All safe and sound in her new home...now the fun begins. ;D

PS- I hope that was an old spill on the deck in the first photo, otherwise you have a leaky Variomatic on your hands.

Oops! Sorry, we'd forgotten about that Nick! Yes, the admin had a mad five minutes a while back around christmas time and I guess we were waiting for you to log in so we could have another giggle, childish as we were. You weren't the only one mind, for some reason Joe became 'your eminance' and Matt became Mr Trainset! Silliness has all stopped now so would you like your name changed back? Glad to hear Reenie has made the journey west ok and look forward to further updates.

sadly that gloop has indeed leaked from the vario, methinks 7 years parked in one spot has caused rust on output shaft somewhere or a seal has gone brittle and the shock of being moved caused it to say "oh bloomin hell no" ah well.. what will be will be, I will attend to it in due course..
she had a dose of fuel down the carb today at lunchtime and a quick turn over and on second revolution of engine fired straight up to life for a few seconds.. fuel pump not working though so have ordered overhaul kit via that link that mr plaxton kindly put up

Good stuff and nice to speak with you earlier, even if I did lose reception on the train. Hopefully someone on here a little more knowledgeable on the vario system will be able to advise regarding replenishing the fluid and replacing seals. If not then we do have varios and should be able to help.

Tuesday 24th
Got the spanners out and after struggling to remove the fuel pump realised there was onyl one way I was going to get on the nuts, off came the front guard, followed by mr Impellor then the big black plastic duct before finally the tin shields on the fuel pump side, access after that was simplicity itself.
I will post some pics after my tea of what was inside the pump but needless to say the diaphragm shows signs of failure as the fuel trap under the diaphragm had obviously had fuel evaporating off it and signs of wash , the diaphragm itself had also took on the appearance of a balloon ?? like it had delaminated and swelled, is this the effect of ethanol they warn us about?

Possibly, but unleaded petrol was also pretty vicious on the wrong material.
I've yet to find out what these tractor kit diaphragms are made of, they certainly look smoother than the old pink AC ones. I've seen black ones too. Can never remember which is which. Suppose I should just chuck one in an E20 mix and see what it looks like after a week.

is it really that aggressive on the older seals and stuff then?
and oddly after photographing the inside of the pump and blowing all the crap out (and through those valve bodies it now chirps like a frog when operated... might be going back on tomorrow for a trial run......
