You mean you didn't know that Anyway, I talked about them in passing (I know, I didn't go into detail as I thought it was obvious how they worked) in this thread over here a month ago. And to start an Ebay bun fight over bidding ;D , a suitable replacement set can be found presently here: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221023897086Remember the snails do come in at least a couple of sizes, the small ones are the ones you want (Moprod MPK3 for all you autojumblers out there)

It looks as though the pegs are projecting outward from the position of the snails. Unless they also project inwards they will never contact the snails. Can it be that the shoes are assembled arse about face? If so take take 'em off , swap top for bottom and turn 'em front to back! - but I'm only a silly old buffer and have probably got it wrong!

Unless they also project inwards Which they do . The pins stick out both sides, so shoes aren't handed.

Snail cams were checked, loosened and lubricated they are positioned to work perfectly again, now that I remembered (thanks Rich) how they worked. Needless to say the last time I fooled with these bits was 2006 so it has been a while. What ? Old Age ? Me ? Never ! ;D ;D ;D ;D John
