Hello All.... In this entire country of 2.5 million people and untold number of factors I cannot find a single replacement starter for Sandra. If anyone can provide a good working spare for her it would certainly be appreciated. I do not want to have to go through this again. The original crapped out (partially seized due to a missing front bronze bushing) and is currently being rebuilt at a local shop. John

What's the panic man? It's only a starter motor. Are you telling me you have none at all? In this entire country of 2.5 million people and untold number of factors I cannot find a single replacement starter for Sandra. Oh and btw, even Ireland has a population of over 4 million. 2 point 5? Er, you do the math s. If you are referring to the United States of America, then try for a figure just over three-hundred million and you'll be in the right ball park Now while you are waiting for replies, you can feast your teary mince pies on this: DSCF5606.JPG by macplaxton, on Flickr DSCF5605.JPG by macplaxton, on Flickr DSCF5603.JPG by macplaxton, on Flickr I do not want to have to go through this again. Sell up all those dodgy Dutch imports you have there and it'll never happen again.

Fantastic Matt...I will do that. Afterall it is only a spare and does not even have to be pretty or even working (My specialist here can rebuild it). I also have to search for a spare 24 volt version for SARGE. That will be a bloody nightmare. @rich, Nice new starter you have there. ;D ;D ;D ;D Re: the link. The Alliance starter has 13 teeth...the 55 one only has 9. I meant to say 250 million on the population not 2 point 5....OOPS. Slip of fat fingers there. The strange thing is that the Ducellier body number comes up in most factor computer systems here but none with the correct nose piece or correct tooth count...go figure. John PS...no weight issues. It will all go in the back of a certain Coupe' bound for the USA.

Oops! Maybe I was thinking of the Renault Le Car or perhaps it was a case of fat-eyeballs .... Having looked, it might even be a Renault Fuego. They do come in slight variations on a theme, that one I ended up with above, was a distress purchase shipped over from Glasgow after my little fire that melted the solenoid's plastic end-casing on the 66. It's probably going to end up on the BB as it has a later (short / fat) V300 one in. I think it was about £100 (it's an outright purchase of a remanufactured one) with about another £25 getting it over from Glasgow to Dublin, but at the time, that car was my daily drive, so couldn't be waiting ages for a fleabay special. I would keep them peeled in the meantime as a NOS rebuilt one might be less than 50 quid anyway. The variations on a theme are power output some are 800 watt, some are 1100 watt and some are slightly different physically, the number on the body might not be a reliable guide and a few remanufacturings.....

Besides, if you really need to get going places and it packs up... 7-3-11 2.jpg by macplaxton, on Flickr USE THE BLOODY STARTING HANDLE!

I beleive in having an option of having spares in stock. I already have a complete spare head, two full sets of engine gaskets, two complete spare varios, etc. My theory is: "why take a chance" John
