Good news the pump is back for the digger I just need to order a1mm shim now and it should all be well. You don't know how much I hate industrial engines.i might jerry rig the pump to make shire I order the correct shim as 0.1 of a mill is I deg of retardation of the fuel timing. I do hope it's the end of it now and I can get digging I have 100 tonnes to dig ASAP and then a £1000 worth of hard core and concreate to pore bring it on. Oh Blythe way I spent 20 mins with issabell tonight

Hi it also can be very advanced timing on the pump it's currently about 26 deg advanced which should be 12 deg advance I have lifted the pump effectively retarding the ignition and managed white smoke (incomplete burn) but still no go I have pump being looked at they say worn out . I say yes right . Will be collecting it back unfixed sat am. I am going to look for the pump veins and delivery nozzles on the net then get it set up but I will be checking out the possibility of hydraulic. System over loading the engine so full rack open over fuelling by 50 present for start as it fires during turning over the load ie hydraulics load up then as the engine fires the govner kicks in and reduces fuel by 50 present for idle but engine loaded up over and above the slow speed amount of fuel. Causing black smoke as in over fuel as you suggest. Thanks for the suggestion you know what it's like eventually you doubt yourself. Hello, Im new to this forum, I have a isuzu 3kc1 in a 1989 gehl 3410 skid steer, im having about the same problems as you ozzie, i replaced lots of parts, injectors, injector lines, return lines, (which mine were missing when i bought it) starter, anyways, if i try starting Isuzu it takes forever, like 15 mins of cranking and glow plugs, blowing black smoke, the hole time its almost starting but just wont take off but finally does, what degree am i looking for injection timing? its about 14 deg now i have a 6mm shim in it right now, i have 3mm, 4mm, 5mm on hand but dont know where i want it to be, also i seen you mentioned adjusting govnor set screw, i cant find any info on where it needs to be set? i seen you said your screwed it the whole way in and it gave it lost of fuel. mine is about middle right now, maybe thats my problem? ow by the way before i forget and someone asks i did all the basic checks, compressions good, glow plugs new, fuel shutoff solenoid it unhooked i use a manual shutoff, any info you can pass along would be GREATLY appreciated, there is absolutely no information on these engines online whatsoever, or im just not looking in the right place, thanks again!!!

I realise it's a while back, but I think lot of folks would like to know if the digger is up and running?
