Hi all im benny from durham, Im new to the classic scene, i have recently been gifted a volvo 66 from a close friend who has used essex daf a huge amount and he said to get on the forums for information. Well here i am, i have a 66 1977 gl marathon i believe. I may ask stupid questions or be way off the mark in replys but im a keen learner and have some parts that are up for swaps, just to get my volvo up and running. Ill try and keep upto date with happenings on this forum and feel free if you are in the north east to pop over and offer me any advise and help!!!! regards benny

Benny,
Welcome to the world of DAF ownership. I am new to it myself too but I am learning as I go along. I have bought parts from Essex DAFs too ( Matt's a great guy) as is the Club's spares (Steve) and Danny from DAF Hobby in Holland. Between the three of them and the knowledge from experienced DAF owners you will be in safe hands.
Cheers
Andrew

please excuse my lack of reply, been without internet for a week or so.
yes i sure did, derek is a very good friend of mine, i run a trialing club aswell as him and he wanted me to partake rather than just organise. long story short i now have it running and some of the body work repaired...my budget is small but i have spare to swap out if people need anything. i fully intend a restoration of sorts but maybe with a more modern twist, a daily driver is where id like to be.
could do with sills and defo need the headlight portions, (i dont know the term) and i desperate for headlights and 'tophats' or bowls, these are completly rotted out. I do also require the wings at some point but they seem very expensive so ill have to make do.
are you the gent (matt) who was picking up the blue daf?
regards Benny

Hi Benny..
Yes i'm that person who is collecting the blue 66 some day..very busy here at the moment due to having to relocate from the barn and no spare time..I will call Derek soon.
As for the parts you require,i can help with headlights and bowls, even possibly a wing or 2..but not sills I'm afraid.

I bought my sills off DAF Hobby. No problem with them at all. Give him time to get back to you
