Hello all
I'm very proud to say that I'm the new owner of the is very nice '72 66L estate. It's largely very solid having spent a lot of time in Stondon museum, but does need some bits and bobs doing to make it truly useable.
I've had very many old cars, but this is my first DAF, so please be patient with me as I learn about their various quirks! I plan to use this regularly including through the winter, so I'm interested in improving things as I go along and turning it into a reliable daily proposition.
Some things that I've noticed so far: I need to test the diaphragms this weekend, but it does seem to rev very high at a constant 30mph. I don't have a vacuum gauge but I can clearly hear the valve really clicking as soon as the accelerator pedal is pressed. Both the brake pedal and the low hold switch raise the revs by quite a bit when static, say 200 rpm or so. I'll do the blow test, check everything is connected properly and maybe try switching the vacuum pipes around.
There is a grinding noise when driving, which initial sounded like a grumbly wheel bearing, but i've since noticed that it makes that noise in neutral too, although only above idle once the clutch engages. Could this be a prop shaft bearing or similar?
Other parts that I need to sort include:
More pictures to follow once I get to spend some time with the car!

Other parts that I need to sort include:
- Finding a bonnet stay- the bonnet is from a Volvo and hence doesn't quite match up
- Source a jack!
- Source a mount and hose for the original air filter- it currently has a cone filter
- Replace fuel lines
- Fit subtle sound system- I have a nice old multi channel amp, And I'm thinking of mounting some satellite surround style speakers under the dash pointing towards the passengers in compunction with a small under seat subwoofer.
