John is squarley in the coffee camp Nick. We did try to educate him in this quaint English tea drink and also the 'little pinky' etiquette and he has sampled the Essex brew but I think he was being polite. Strong black coffee it is then.

Time for an update..
Dorothy is now back on the road..again..๐
It's been a while and she has been missed..still some work to do on her but she is happy pottering around Colchester..
In time I intend to return most of the collection to a suitable roadworthiness and enjoy them on the road where they belong..
Why Dorothy?....
The move delayed any Daf getting worked on and I was relieing on Nell,1 of the 55 estates to get me around..Nell had some swing arm issues which I managed to sort but finally she said enough was enough and sheared her gearing in her o/s secondary..๐ข.. At the same time,Dan was after the same unit for his 55 coupe..as only 1 in stock,Dan had this 1..in time I will source another or remove the unit from my very rotten 55 Mara coupe..๐
So...a Daf was needed quickly and which Daf was available for a quick return to the road..it was Dorothy.. As funds are low due to being jobless and not fit to return to work due to pneumonia (now recovered)..Dorothy was called apon.. As she is a 6 volt car and a 6 volt battery is not cheap.. ยฃ120 the cheapest we found..the dicision was made to upgrade her to 12 volts, which was helped with the stock of spares sitting around.. With the help of Dan and Eric,Dorothy was soon ready for her return to the road..
We have run her around a little and she seems happy to be back on the road after about 4 years away from the road..but her brakes need work which is in hand..
So which Daf next..I feel Yolanda,my other 55 estate needs to return to service๐..an update when this happens.

A little bit more done to Dorothy..
After a 2 day polish due to being rained off the 1st day,we took a shiny Dorothy to the barn.. Not a lot done but managed to change her relay and now have flashing indicators..also replaced 1 of the parcel shelf straps..โบ
Jobs still to do..replace front brake cylinders and hoses, rear bumper and get the fuel gauge working..
Also moved some Dafs about in the barn,Yolanda now ready and waiting for work to start on her..
Just need some nicer weather now..โโโ..

As the weather was nice yesterday, more work was carried out on Dorothy..๐
Started with fitting 2 bonnet mirrors๐ฌ๐ฌ,holes were already in the bonnet which needed filling.. Dug through the stock and found 2 matching suitable mirrors and half a 3rd mirror which acted as a doner.. As I was finishing fitting the mirrors,Dan turned up...and the kettle went on..โ๐ต
With the help of Dan...thanks Dan...the main task of the day was set apon..the brakes..
So new front hoses and cylinders were fitted, new shoes had been fitted the week before and then bleeding commenced.. While the braking action has improved, another bleeding session is on the books..but for now,Dorothy is being enjoyed..back on the road where she belongs..
As for more Dafs hitting the road again, plans for Yolander are now in place..but there could be a queue jumper..Nell..the other 55 estate..
Nell was removed from the daily routine due to shearing her o/s secondary gearing..as the only spare unit I had was claimed by Dan for his 55 coupe, the only option i have is to rob a unit from my very rusty 55 Mara coupe..so I thought..but it looks like I have tracked down another unit which will hopefully be in my posession next weekend..
So hopefully, within the next few weeks,2 55 estates will be returning to the road..and join Dorothy in running us around..

If only the plans had worked out Nick.. ..both 55 estates still not on the road and Dorothy earning her keep.. Had a trip in Dorothy to Harlow and back, about 90 mile round trip and apart from some brake fluid leakage from the o/s rear, all went well..and a speedo reading of 80 briefly at 1 stage,I'm now happy to put her on longer journeys.. At some stage the rattling/leaking exhaust and noisey secondaries will need work..plus vac valve/low ratio button and fuel gauge need sorting..but for now only pottering around she is drawing plenty of attention on the streets of Colchester..and getting her pic taken regularly..
