Good work Ken, keep it up! And as John says, spring is around the corner and as we all know, DAFs come out in spring.

Well, just a brief update today. The holes in the rear 1/4 have been filled, another light skim has been put on the rear panel and it will be sanded down tomorrow. If I am happy with the overall shape then I will give it a protective coat of red oxide. Then another after a light sanding and then bolt everything back on.
I put some petrol back in the tank and all appears well but she wouldn't start. Maybe I didn't put enough. I will have a proper look tomorrow.

You might want to put some petrol in the carb Ken to help pull through what you have in the tank.

I have the same problem with Butterscotch after she has been sitting for a while Ken. Just a quick shot in the carb will start fuel flow quickly...not quite sure if it's the carb design or the fuel lines which allow everything to drain back. She has done this since day one. John

I spent a couple of hours down the garage today and the plan was to firstly get Goldie running. I put some more petrol in the tank and added a couple of dribbles into the carb. She wanted to fire but wasn't quite doing so.
Luckily I had the jumpstart pack with me as her battery was getting a little tired by then. Second dribble and vroom, off she went. Happily burbling away to herself on tick over. I ran her for about 10 mins to ensure that the supply was properly re-established.
I then cracked on with the rear end. I rubbed down the areas that had needed a touch more filler and am overall quite pleased. I have the right profiles but the dent in the rear panel will require yet another skim for me to be happier. However a couple of other bits will need a bit more filler to fill in the odd pin hole here and there. A couple of coats of red oxide was brushed on in the interim to protect what I have done so far.
Then I took her for a spin round the block a few times, sans rear bumper, which will be fitted next weekend (weather permitting). All in all, a good day.
Luckily for me that I painted her when I did as the weather is getting a little damper as I type. Phew.
I noticed that the air filter was quite dirty and a little oily. I will grab a replacement as soon as.
