AH YES.... In order to have the Volvo accessory wheels one must be prepared to change... 1. the entire Vario to a 300 series 2. both front struts to Volvo 300 series MS Engineering (aka Matt Stapper) has done some great things to upgrade and/or modify DAF models. He has even managed to change his 33 over to front Disc Brakes recently. If you want an easy conversion for new wheels you must locate a set of aftermarket ones designed for the DAF. There are plenty of options out there... www.siteje.com/dafalbums/velgen.htmlThis set of Goodyear Alloys I found through Matt Stapper for Butterscotch in 2006 (price at that time including shipping was almost $ 800.00) Now, it is a matter of locating them and preparing to loose a month's wages purchasing them. They are not cheap by any means. John

4 stud conversions are usually 4x100 and involve robbing some V300 series bits. I don't think you need the whole Vario assembly to change just the wheels John . Using the whole lot is for a number of other reasons Ditto the front struts, you only need some parts are they are McPherson struts. All you need is just some bog-standard 13" DAF rims and enjoy cheap tyres. Then you won't be crying into your pint when you have to buy tyres or ding a rim. He has even managed to change his 33 over to front Disc Brakes recently. Why the John? He did it twenty odd years ago too

They are nice indeed and Matt has a set of those on Mimi. Mind you, he'd never let them go. Out of all the many sets of wheels we have at Essex DAFs, we only have the one set of alloy wheels.

might have to mug him at the weekend then and sneak them away....
right then update time.... After cleaning out the amster cylinder I can happily report that reen STILL has a good firm brake pedal today even after standing for a day or two so fingers crossed thats something i Ccan forget about for a bit... tried straightening the handbrake out and filing some new teeth onto the ratchet but to no avail, it is simply too twisted to straighten up properly without cutting it into pieces and welding it back together.. Heading off to ED this weekend to get primary box and a handbrake lever, and to see what else they got hidden away that I might make good use of..
also the "new" Hi-fi for the car turned up, just need to service the belts on my 8-track recorder now so I can have some period looking cassettes with some more modern music on...

Don't like to ask, but what's your 'amster cylinder got to do with her brakes?

I'm sure we can sort out a handbrake for you Nick. I wish I could be there, only I have to attend a 3 year old's birthday party instead. What do you class as 'really rubbish music'? You're not a Cliff Richard fan are you? Please tell me you haven't bought Paul McCartny's latest album.
