Hi, I have a couple of questions that I hope you guys might know the answer to.
I've heard that it is possible to do an alternator upgrade. Can anyone shed light on what my options are?
Second question is about wheels. I'm all too aware that sourcing nice wheels for DAF's is pretty hard and alloys are really hard to come by. Is there a way round this? Has anyone done hub conversion to give them a better pcd?
I have plans to get the flying poo up, running and even MOT'd this year so I will more than likely have loads of questions.

1) Lots of options for alternators. What's the problem with what you have though? Is it power output or change for the sake of it? Rather than suggest a upgrade, perhaps it might be better to indicate what is the outcome you're aiming at here.
2) Off the top of my head, certainly the rear of V340 has a similar axle and hub set up and they run 4 x 100 mm PCD wheels. I assume something similar could be done up front. I'm fairly certain that it's been done before. Someone else might be able to fill you in on the details.

Cheers for all the info though.

A "normal" stereo + alarm should be fine with the standard alternator and battery. Unless you have plans for a killer car stereo outfit? Standard battery = 063 or equivalent. Alternator is a 36A.

Betty's running a 45 watt per channel stereo on her original 6v dynamo system (and at least 5 year old battery) through a home-made (and very inefficient) converter. By inefficient I mean a no-load current of around 6 amps because it was made out of what I had to hand and component values were less than ideal! She also has 60/55 w halogen headlamps and 50w halogen spots fitted just to push the electrical load up a bit Despite that, she's not given any charging problems through the last 3 winters so I can't see you having a problem with the standard 12v if everything's n good order. Dynamo charging was never as bad as people remember unless you spend ALL your time running around at idle in towns!
