STUPID QUESTION # 1:IF our DAFs needed a Tax Stamp from her Majesty's road tax revenue department... Where would they need to be displayed ?? John (completely ignorant of UK law)

Hey, no worries John. In the front windscreen facing outwards. Anywhere outside the swept area of the windscreen wipers, preferably. I don't have photos of mine to hand but Gavina and Rover wear theirs on the n/s bottom of their screens.

Very bottom left corner of the windscreen. By design, it can end up within the swept area, but it's officially required so it doesn't matter if it is. What year are you looking for? They are all the same size, but do vary in style over the years. www.poplargreg.com/taxdiscs/discs2.htm

Little known fact - legally it's not "anywhere" outside the swept area, Pete, it MUST be on the near side.
Regulation 6(4)(c) of the Road Vehicle (Registration and Licencing) Regulations 2002 specifies:
Regulation 6(5) also says:
Which is why the bottom corner is recommended - a midget traffic warden could have trouble reading it at the top and you might then be guilty of an offence under that section ;D

Fair point Joe. I have also seen them at the top of the screen. Guess it's a pretty anal TW who'd grass you up for that!

always used to put mine behind the rear view mirror until a plod had a go one day.. I argued that it obstructed my vision in the nearside corner and could constitute an MOT fail but he wasnt having it.. needless to say I refused to move it as it was in a tamperproof holder and he had to lean on my wet bonnet to read it LOLOL....
ah those were the days

Many thanks for the input gents. ;D ;D So lower Left corner it is (for all the midget traffic wardens) I purchased two reproduction discs from Jon @ miniphernalia.co,uk He sent me one sheet of six for 1970 (SANDRA) and one sheet of six for 1976 (BUTTERSCOTCH) Jon did excellent work, I'm happy. Just another little touch for my two Brit DAFs. Now to get some holders. John PS- In Vermont it is not a Tax Disc but an annual Vehicle Inspection Sticker (something along the lines of your MOT). Those MUST be placed directly behind the interior rearview mirror with expiration date facing outward and placed there only by the inspector.

of course to be totally authentically british simply put a piece of white paper in the window saying "Tax in the post" or put the disc in using two pieces of selotape (sticky backed plastic) in a large cross ;D

Yes, I went down the selotape route until recently Nick! John, if you want true authenticity then swab the back of the selotape with used tea bags (ED can supply if you like ) to give an instant sun bleached look.
