Your roving reporter is coming to you from a camp site at Lichfield in the Midlands where the local Rotary Club is holding it's annual Cars in The Park event. The Daf marque was represented today by three 33s, a 44, a 55 and matilda the (real) 32 ;D That's Gavina on the left, all the way from Essex, with Bob Scriven's 33 behind. Gladys the 44 and Betty (our 33) are hiding behind the gazebo, with Matilda and Yolanda on the right. The Reliant on the far right of the picture must have travelled from north of the border because, according to their stand sign, they were (in best Sean Connery voice) the Reliant Schimetre club. They didn't seem to mind Everything went swimmingly, with a little light tuning carried out while the opportunity was there, which has hopefully improved Gavina's starting and Gladys' too-fast idle ("it won't wind down any more".... "yes it bloody will if I tell it to....") Then there was an attempt at some stereotypical Essex behaviour as someone tried to steal Matilda. No point denying it, Pete, if you'd wanted a fast getaway you should have gone for the water-boiler. As it was, no need to call the Interceptors when a brisk foot-chase allowed all the evidence to be gathered...

;D
Thanks Joe, it was truly a pleasure to take Matilda into the ring! I was secretly hoping I might have a drive of her and was not disappointed. This is all very inspirational for returning Tigga on the road and I'll look forward to accepting Sian's kind offer of reupholstering Tigga's dashboard-top, even if it means buying her another pint - of fudge! ;D

Absolutely mate. We need to move cars around and maybe swap her spot with Dorothy. Like to be able to pull her out so Joe can have a good look over her, although knowing his superhuman speed he'll have her restored within the weekend. I think I remember hearing the Norfolk boys can get 6v batteries quite reasonable prices - about £45?

Sorry, didn't make them all into runners but did my best Anyway, it's time to resurrect this thread because the dates are in for CiTP 2012: Sat 30th June / Sun 1st July at Beacon Park in Lichfield. This year it happens to coincide with the Olympic Torch traveling through the town so hopefully the crowds will be mahoosive. Even if they're not, the displays are and it's fantastic value at an entry fee of £0.00! If you want to camp they can do that too, although that does cost £20 for the Friday and Saturday nights but it means you can crawl out of your tent straight onto the display area, which is a GOOD THING as long as you do it before the public start showing up I'll be booking a stand for the DOC (you don't need Club membership to be on it) but could do with an idea of car numers so we know how much space to ask for. So if anyone hopes to be there can you post below, please, giving an idea of how definite you are and what day or days you hope to attend. In the words of Tony the Tiger, it'll be GRRRRRRREAT! ;D

Ok, just posted a minor strop message on the DOC forum about this - the Club bookings are now available but so far we only have 5 cars including Pete, Matt and Stef's race car with 3 of them probably only there on the Sunday. Really can't understand the reluctance of the "old guard" - it's a big, free, 2 day show which is only 26 miles from Derby (dual carriageway all the way) so is probably closer to most of them than the Club's pub lunch! Anyway, will be holding off on the stand booking for a little while to see if we can get any more interest. We WILL be booking but don't want to end up with a mahoosive stand and no cars or a small stand that looks like a car park when suddenly lots turn up
