Since experiencing a few difficulties lately I thought it would be interesting to see who can identify some of the various Brake Shoes which DAF had used. Here is the first photo... You only get one guess at identifying each one. John PS..... Richard, A Burgess number on the microswitch casing: 5A another (same switch type from Burgess) lists # GVTSP2

Hmm, well, the top one looks 66, the second one 46, then I get confused. I'll plump for an early 'A' body and perhaps 33...

1) Lockheed 7" x 1 1/4" shoe - 178mm x 32mm - (as per real Mini rear) - DAF 600/750/Daffodil/30/31/32/33 rear 2) Girling 8" x 1 1/2" shoe - 203mm x 38mm - (as per Hillman Imp, Ford Escort Mk1/2 front (note adjuster pin for the snail cam)) - DAF 46 front and 66 L / DL with front drum brakes. 3) ATE 200mm x 42mm shoe - 7.87" x 1.65" - (as per some ancient BMWs and VWs) - DAF 44 front. DAF 44/55 rear if handbrake arm is attached to or transferred to one of the pair from the old shoe. 4) Girling 8" x 1 1/2" shoe - 203mm x 38mm - (as per Hillman Imp, Ford Escort Mk1/2 rear and very early Hyundai Ponies) - DAF 46 / 1300cc DAF 66 models / Volvo 66 and maybe even Volvo 300 with 8" Girling drums.
That's my tuppence worth.

;D ;D ;D ;D Richard wins the award... * PS...Lockheed 7x 1 1/4 shoe set # 1 also fits DAF 66 Rears, as Pete mentioned. Now we can all straighten out our inventory of assorted shoes and get organized..... ;D ;D More to follow.... John

* PS...Lockheed 7x 1 1/4 shoe set # 1 also fits DAF 66 Rears, as Pete mentioned. Oops, left that one in my rush to get to work. It should be clarified that Lockheed 7" rears are on 1100cc DAF 66s. All 1300s should have 8" Girling rears.

Erm, quite right of course Rich! ;D Hmm, here's a thought... How about a thread listing what models had what brake components, with part numbers. That would be great, we could make it a sticky and anyone needing parts can look up the info for their car. Anyone up for the challenge?
