The time is fast arriving when I hope to have Rudolph 44 back on the road after his lengthy hibernation. He is presently fitted with Michelin X 135 - 13 tyres. I will need to replace them even though they look fine to the naked eye. What are people fitting nowadays without breaking the bank? Presumably 145 - 13; but what make? I shall need five. I suppose the spare will still fit in its usual position?

Hello Marcus... You have 13" on your 44,it should be 14" If your keeping 13" on Rudolph, probably better fitting 155 x 13 For 14" rims, that would be 145 x 14 All will still fit under the bonnet

155 x 13 should be a good fit, Marcus.
We've been using whatever budget ones our local fitter (not "national chain"!) can get. They usually seem to be "Event" and they do absolutely fine at around £30 each last time we needed some (although tyre prices seem to be pretty erratic lately!)

13" or 14" Marcus? There are shed-loads of 13" sizes available: www.mytyres.co.uk have 28 listed from £23.10 to £52.00 However, if you're actually talking 14" you have the following: 135SR14 Vredestein Classic Sprint, I got mine as part of the recommissioned batch by the DCN, however, I was told by Toon that 500 got sent to the UK. Vintage Tyre Supplies have them at 71.40 each with the VAT (which is quite cheap for them as they're usually about 100 quid) 145SR14 Camac BN313 - These disappeared for a while and are now back, made in Portugal I think. Longstone Tyres have them at 50.40 inc VAT. Vintage Tyre Supplies cost more on their own website, but on their eBay shop - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370625210041 - 47.00 delivered. 145/80R14 Bridgestone B381 - A low rolling resistance modern tyre, designed for the Audi A2/VW Lupo 3L economy models, made in Japan - Longstone Tyres have them at 59.40 inc VAT. Vintage Tyre Supplies Vintage Tyre Supplies - www.vintagetyres.com/ or ebay shop: stores.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-TyresLongstone Tyres - www.longstonetyres.co.uk/or ask your local independent tyre shop.

Thanks for reporting back. Thankfully, it also means a lot of my post wasn't a complete waste of time ;D Camacs are a reasonable price, the only drawback been was they have doubled in price since the last batch. Before stocks ran out, they could be had for about 23 quid. But with quatatatatatative easing, inflation, 2.5% increase in VAT since then....
