This being my first "Boiler" I am at a loss. My brain has only worked with two parts for so many years and I have never had to use 4 parts of it before. OK....I have been doing all this work to my 66-YA and it will idle happy all day....and rev in Neutral perfectly. Until I try to actually try to drive it !!!!!!!!!Here are the symptoms; 1. There is no hestitation when I pull away. 2. When full throttle is applied the DAF will "gasp for fuel" and stall (happens EVERYTIME). 3. When it "gasps for fuel" (if I pump the gas pedal repeatedly) the car will buck like as Rodeo Horse. 4. It has a hard time restarting right after this happens. 5.After a few minutes I can reststart and it will idle perfectly again. Any guesses from Boiler Owners with this kind of experience I have kind of narrowed it down to 3 possible causes; 1. Microswitch on the Solex 2. EVMK vacuum valve 3. Torn Bellow. HELP ME John

Thanks Matt. Fuel issues...That seems to be the general consenses for my symptoms. I will have to keep adding the gasoline cleaners & fuel filters. God knows what crud is left in the system which is working it's way loose now. Bob & I took Sarge out on Saturday afternoon for a short spin around the neighborhood and he did not show any symptons even though I put the pedal to the floor twice......Hmmmmmm Now to solve the next issue....NO KICKDOWN John

he is giving you a few problems john..i would say kick down switch but know you have checked that..no chance of a vacuum pipe off is there?..as for the fuel problem, poss bit of dirt which has dislodged itself ..might be worth checking the jets in the carb again

Fuel problems aside sounds a bit like Dan's 55 coupe with a kn@ckered dizzy - no advance curve meaning problems at higher revs...

Yet another little and often forgotten thing John - ventilation hole in gas (petrol) tank cap blocked. It is very irritating to find this is so AFTER everything else has been tried!

Thanks for all the advice chaps. ;D Sarge's electrical, fuel and Idle issues seem to have been taken care of (for now )...he does run a lot better and will happily idle all day and take off without hesitation. He had been put on a strict regiment of Chemical Warfare to clean out the fuel system...which has helped beyond words. Now re-vamp the EVMK and locate a Vacuum tester to accurately test that system.
