noticed a lack of change up when braking a few days ago but didnt think much about it, today had to use the hill descent and noticed it wasnt going out when I braked with it.. turns out I got no brake lights either, however if I bridge the master cylinder wires they work and I can hear the vac valve operating,
are these switches common to any other car?? or do I need a daf specific one???
cheers
Nick

Rich P. has a new number somewhere in his vast stockpile of knowledge....that are applicable to one other somewhat current car model I beleive.

Yep, can't be bothered to turn the big machine on as I've been in about 30mins. DON'T believe the aftermarket parts catalogues as a lot of them are wrong. As an aside, a V300 runs a pedal position plunger switch for the brake lights and a separate high pressure hydraulic switch for the Vario. I know the DAF ones can get rather lazy to activate or just plain give up. I'll try and remember to check back in before work tomorrow.

Just have a browse here: www.findpart.org/part/fte-h00007The main problem with the "catalogues" is that the part they have under "DAF" has a tapered thread which is no good to man nor beast, but when you do a reverse look-up from the OEM number you get the right part, but no applications against it. The obsolete Intermotor number is 51550. DAF - 892365 ELODA - 3307 / ATE 03.3526-0810.3 340008 / Intermotor 51550 / CI XLB40S TECHNICAL DATA Power: 150 W Voltage: 12V - 24V Temperature range: -40°C to +80°C Max. operating pressure: 200 bar Storage temperature: -40°C to +100°C Housing: steel, Zn plated 10-15C, DIN 50961 24mm hex M10 x 1 thread straight3-6 bar 2 x 6.3mm male terminals (ATE 6.5mm long thread, 40mm long, 22mm wide, S/S 22mm) Alfa Romeo 10562.45027.00/01 BMW 34 31 8 748 109 BUESSING: 90 810 522 495 DAF 892 365 Ford 0546820 Hanomag 1820 054 601 247 925 142 3141 902 M1 Magirus - Deutz 0231-7786 1171-4938.01 3060-345 M8 341 6614 EE 5034-80 5145-8019.07 MAN 81.25520.0023 Mercedes Benz 000 545 43 09 608 545 00 09 Porsche 901 613 401 00 Steyr 710 1 36 606 2 Talbot 37129 00 VAG 803 945 515 Volvo 3101749 Now I can get these in from Eloda cheap, but whilst there is no minimum order cost, there would be a minimum carriage charge. The top and bottom of which it would only be worth while getting at least 50 off them....

Now you know what the other option is whilst waiting to bag the correct NOS switch cheaply: Get lathe out and make a short adaptor, M10 X 1 male to 1/8" x 27 NPTF Female....... stick one of these on.... sorted Not that I'd do such a thing , just thought I'd slip it in before Uncle Joe turned up

Actually, can I backstep a touch.
These things had a Girling? master cylinder I think, with the boat shaped reservior. Maybe worth double checking the thread and John to check his 46 parts book for a DAF number.
