Matt was kind enough to supply me wth a spare wheel for Rudy a little while ago but I had not got round to fitting it with a tyre yet. This morning I thought I'd better do a final check before proceeding and I am now somewhat displeased to find that Rudy, being an earlyish 44 is fitted with 14" slotted wheels and not the more common 15" which is what my spare is! I suppose that the slotted 14" wheel which I need comes into the "hen's teeth" category but you never know. Anyone got a spare one please? Would an unslotted "33" wheel fit or not?

Are you sure your spare is a 15" Marcus?
A 33 wheel will not fit as it is 13".
We might have a slotted 14" but will need to check.

No all 44s were fitted with 14 inch wheels from the factory. However a 14 inch wheel will measure 15 inch if you put a tape measure accross is diameter. This is because the measurement is taken from tyre seat to tyre seat. No DAF car came with 15 inch wheels from the factory. My type 1 wears the earlier style 14 inch wheels like this but the later style is the same size. Gladys here is wearing the later type 14 inch wheel.

Just done a little annotated pic to show what I mean. The red line here in real life measures nigh on exactly 15 inch. However the white line is were the term 14inch wheel comes from. This is the diameter of the whole in the tyre so as it seals onto the wheel. The wheel pictured is a 14 inch wheel.

You definetely need a 14" wheel, as in the photo posted by Paul.
It should not be too hard to find since the 44 and 55 share the same slotted steel wheels.
