The big day finally arrived...and so has DAPHNE ;D ;D The newest addition to my collection is a 1966 Daffodil 32 in RHD and she is stunning. ;D She has very minimal rust issues (about the same condition as LLB) with only the rear Valance needing major attention. All of her bits are in the boot, so she is complete as well. The interior is quite nice and the only issue is the dash cover. I placed her inside JONAH for dry storage... until I have a chance to finish a few other projects. DAPHNE looks like quite an easy restoration and should not be long before she is back on the road again. Allright all you ED Weekenders- pack your bags, it's time for "LLB- part 2" John PS...now I need to find a 1966 series UK license plate. Any idea what it should look like ?? DUH

Depends which registration area / county she was from At this point reg & county are not an issue Rich...There is no paperwork nor history on this Daffodil. I do know it has to be a "D" reg plate (just like LLB) ie: " LUW 85D" John

John, I can help. My 1966 32 (now OGU305D) was once MGC810D or something like that - and the old plates are in the back still. I know it's part of its history but I can't exactly put them back on the car over here!

They're the original black and silver plates with raised digits too that came with the car, so will look the part. I'll pick them up tomorrow, take pictures, and if they are what you want I'll pop them in the post

I needed to give my brain a rest from dealing with Postal Pete & the electrical issues... Today I took DAPHNE (or is that LLB II ?? ) out of storage (read: "ripped from the bowels of JONAH") to take work inventory. As I said previously, all her bits are accounted for...EXCEPT a Bonnet emblem. I've also located a stash of UK paperwork in the boot and it appears the car's origin is Hyde Motor Company (153 Edgware Road London) and it's first keeper was Mr. Thomas Haddaway of 43 Grosvenor Crescent Kinsbury, London (who registered it on 27 June, 1966). The DAF had License plate # LYL 145D, according to the Registration Book. It appears that Mr. Haddaway owned the DAF in the UK until 1977 when he took it to the USA when he immigrated to Maryland. He later sold it to William Dix of 67 Sycamore Street in Westminster, Maryland (Date unknown) The DAF ended up in a local junkyard many years later where Bruce Robertson purchased it around 1990 as spares for his Father's (Harold Robertson) 1966 Daffodil 32. It was Harold who donated the car to the Museum in 2012. Nice bit of discovered history. I started today by cleaning the interior and discovering the floor pans will need to be patched as well as the inner door sill. Not really a surprise but they are not too bad...The stickers, stripes and decals HAD to go!! It took most of one day to remove miles of vinyl stripes (in three colours) plus eight "flower power" decals...not Daffodils mind you. Yes, the DAF is two-tone...LOL. The original Akwalo Blue was accented on the Hood, front Wings and lower rear panels (God knows why) with Sea Mist Green. John

@ Howard...... That license plate you have ( MGC 810D ) will work out perfectly for DAPHNE since her original was #LYL 145D. ;D ;D ;D Whenever you can locate it and pop it in the post for me. John
