Help HELP please issabell strikes again.
chassis number 358089 registered end nov 1970 and a 6 voter delux
i have a fuse fuse blowing it's the second in from the left. Small one brake lights and wipers and stuff wheel I have 3 wiring diograms
number 1 green hand book subject to alterations 69-528 (I guess 1969 as it came with car ) it has 2 diagrams comfort and delux
number 2 Autobooks 752 revision A ( yippee first edition ?)
number 3 Autobooks 752 revision E ( should have all modifications in it)
all are different. With regard what is real on my car. Issabell has a white plastic braking solenoid on the bulk head under the bonnet rubber mounted but looks out of place the plastic is very white. Should it be there. How do I know if it's a 6 volt or 12 volt.
wire diogram from early auto book does not show it at all ala 31 or 32
later auto book shows it on 12 volt car but not on 6 volt
hand book shows it on 6 volt delux
my fuse blows randomly on this
can any one help I think the fuse blows when I brake with the button released ie on position and indicating. Which makes sence as it is wired to wipers and brakes and direction indicators according to hand book. Can any one help how should it be wired?
i think I have just answered my own question auto books are rubbish I must go with the hand book I have just had a look at the car another home brew wire is added from the brake switch to to the back of the car I think as it disappears off down under the rubber mat. I cut back the insulation on the wiring loom an hey presto a cut off white wire. Looks like it's another dash out and columb off to get at it all when I get an hour or so spair. Looking at the book a white wire goes from brake switch to terminal 49 of hold down switch and to brake light from this terminal also the other white goes from the second fuse to the 15 terminal of the hold down switch and also the washer switch
yellow is earth possibly switched
white is power +
green is switched +
i bet bet the wires on the down hill button are mixed up I think I am feeding short earth to + when this is switched.
Can any one confirm how it works
the auto books indicate that the switch holds off a vacuum when brakes applied ie vacuum solonide receives power when brakes applied thus dumping vacuum.?
Can any one confirm my theory. If I am correct then my fuse blowing is incorrect wires on the switch if not what. And why cut a white under the bonnet that goes to the brake switch and does it still go to the switch terminal 49 ? Who knows could this valve be a 12 volter and just be drawing to much current for the fuse and wire ie as volts go down amps goes up ie 12 volt requires 10 amps at 6 volts this would be 20 amps with brake lights and other stuff like indicators the fuse melts as it's only 20 amps and not indicating a short.
Any tec gues out there who know dafs upside down.
I wish I had a garage to work on her it would be so easy I am sure.
