I am a little tempted by the almost immaculate car on Fleabay but am put off by the dismal material that Daf used for upholstery. Does anyone have info on affordable re-upholstery in some decent hard wearing and long lasting alternative? Estimate of likely expenditure would be more than useful.

You might want to have a chat with John de Bruin, Marcus as he is about to send some particularly gnarly seats away for re-upholstry. Not sure to which DAF you refer but if it's the minter 66 then I'd be inclined to just fit seat covers to protect what is there. The cloth was the expensive option when buying a new DAF but it seemed to be wafer thin and bleach the instant the sun's rays first hit the fabric...

Too right! I once had a Volvo 66 from new and the sun melted whatever it is that they used for cloth. Thank goodness Becky has nice black plastic! Yes it is the pricey minter. I hoped to negotiate to a more realistic figure due to the naff cloth. I don't like seat covers anyway. I think they look just as bad unles very professionally tailored.

Surprise, surprise; I didn't write Ovlov at all. There must be a Gremlin in the works which wishes to introduce us to the Russo/Swedish branch of the famous marque!

;D Really, I have nothing against them - even those that aren't belt driven. It's just an old joke that's traditionally proliferated around DAF circles so we kept it going here. Dan Gibbens is one of our original group who has a 66 estate that is absolutely lovely! So no need to worry here if you're an Ovlov owner!

No problems being an OVLOV owner...as long as it's not an 850 pretending to be a DAF 99. ;D ;D ;D
Marcus, Having just purchased a 55 Coupe with rather Ratty cloth seats I will be doing a full vinyl seat re-cover. I agree that it was a rather poor choice on the part of DAF to install such inferior cloth...but that will be rectified. They should have taken a clue from furniture manufacturers and put in some heavy duty materials.
My 46 is also due for a re-cover soon.
