Evening! Am still playing about with the Vario on our 46 estate.. Have fitted a new Roulands belt from the DAF OC, Its a very tight fit, with the adjuster fully off the minimum gap i can get between the secondary pulley halves is around 3mm... I told its supposed to be 1mm, but there is just no more adjustment to acheive that. Will it be ok? Im assuming the new belt will wear in a bit, and most likely the gap will come right after some use,. maybe? Thanks guys
Matt.

I think 3mm should be ok. Iirc DAF released a bulletin revising recommended gaps as belts were being overtightened. I'm sure Mr Plaxton can confirm.

1.5 to 2.0 mm should be the gap. Make sure secondary is fully forward for fitting and adjuster is slackened fully.

had same problem with mine and I believe that when Paul fitted Joes belt he had an even larger gap, not rechecked mine yet but will report back, obviously they will settle a bit when they are first used so I suspect it will be fine
