As some may know, I've just imported this fine vehicle from the States. I've long yearned for a Corvair, much as I love the weird and wonderful. This was America's only rear engined air cooled car - and also the world's first turbocharged production car. I bought this car that I found on eBay.com of all places. The owner who was getting on for 80 has owned it for 45 years and has done 1,200 miles in that time. Its tyres were last changed in 1970 so I have naturally bought replacement whitewalls at £52 per corner. It has been kept in a dark dry garage and I was told it was excellent (and you can never be 100% sure of photos) but it is in shockingly good order. Those who have seen it have been utterly amazed it's a 51 year old car. She runs wonderfully and I'm just waiting for the documentation to come through so I can register her and drive her. She also came with a huge supply of new and used parts, and lots of other goodies supplied by the owner. I think I had a bargain, and I'm absolutely delighted with her! Another addition to my world of the odd

It has always been rather obvious how much the Corvair "influenced" the Imp (and especially this wee Stiletto). Size wise, the difference is as much as you'd think....look how small the Corvair is compared with the Saab.....
It's only 4ft 3 high, and 5ft 7 wide. Same width as a new Fiesta.
