Hurrah! You jinxed me! Now the fuel pump body has cracked and she's missing petrol everywhere. Electric fuel pump time I think

I've never known them to crack by looking at them*... ...overtightening on the other hand. *with the exception of some late 70s / early 80s plastic dome topped 'oribble types that used to be fitted on Reliants and such.

Oh dear Paul, sorry about that... The last thing you want is to be 'missing' fuel. Better than pissing it I suppose...

Crack repaired with liquid metal, a file and every cloth. Butchered an old inner tube to make a new top seal and she is no longer leaking. Just need to source a condenser to get her back in use. None of my local factors have been able to get hold of the right part or even the transit one that can be bodged to fit.
On other news I got a decent looking head unit with a facial that shouldn't look out of place, a pair of radio mobile 3 way pods, and a pair of radio mobile 2 way hanging speakers for my birthday. Those I should be able to fit without doing any damage to the interior as the hanging speakers mount via adjustable brackets that will be screwed to the underside of the dash.
Also got a central locking kit in the shed that'sgoing to be fitted as well.

Great! Gavina used a set of radiomobile box speakers on her parcel shelf fixed with sticky Velcro tape. Only complaint I had was that with the engine at max chat I needed to crank them up loud but not before turning the bass down. I think with front speakers fitted too you shouldn't need to crank them up so loud!

Hmmm finally got the parts through to get this one back on the road and it didn't work.
Timing where it should be. Condenser replaced - now running but with a significant missfire. Thinking new condenser may be suspect. Replaced coil because I had a new one on the shelf. Result now not starting at all. We have a spark but its utterly pathetic and barely visible at the king lead.

have you done a compression test? are both plugs wet with fuel ? if the misfire constant to one cylinder or both intermittently? was the coil "on the shelf" new/thought to be good/known good/"he said it was ok" ? is new coil for 12v non ballasted system or is it for a ballasted electronic ignition in which case points/condensor wont have the oomph to make it spark proper this car ran when you picked it up , you say youve cured the bad fueling so what has been broken in the mean time

It kept getting worse and worse. I discovered a few issues with perished fuel lines and pump internals, which were all replaced and she now has a strong and regular supply of fuel. Coil on the shelf was bought not long before I sold Gladys I never fitted it as it was meant as a spare. I do wonder if it is a wrong part, it was an ebay purchase so that wouldn't be that much of a suprise. But it was listed as new and for a 44. I would try the coil of the spitfire but that has a ballast resistor so would be no good. I will put her old coil back on for now she did at least run with that. Even if starting was awkward she would miss randomly on idle with as much as a minute between misfires. Compression is good and even on both cylinders. Fuel is definatly getting through the carb as the spark plugs come out wet if its been cranking a while. She also has new points and condenser fitted, both are genuine bosch parts. I'll try starting her again after dark tonight and see if I can see any spark arcing.

44 coil could be a 6v one then, running it in the dark is a good idea, its surprising how many people find unspotted misfires in the dark.. misfire every minute or so is nothing.. Gina misfires more than that !! think its a 2 pot thing..
