Hi there,
Wonder if anyone can help - Sue's 1970 DAF Celia has an odd issue which is that it will start but the spark will gradully fade out. When left for a while it will start again. It's a 6 volt system - points changed, condenser changed, coil changed - timing set up.
Any clues gratefully received!
Many thanks!
Howard (and Sue - and indeed, Celia!)

How old are the dizzy cables Howard? Also check for cracks in the Dizzy cap.

Both the cap and the leads are about a year old. Doesn't mean they can't break down or become faulty though!

Doesn't exclude any of the new stuff being faulty either. Also check low tension leads to coil - I once had a Kawasaki that would start no bother, but after running a short while it would die. Changed both coils and it was the same. Wiggled the leads that connected onto the coil and it would misfire. Sorted by crimping fresh spade terminals onto slightly cut-back wires onto fresh copper. Conclusion was the connection was good until the heat rose from the engine (the coils being on the frame above it) was causing the connection to break down. Weird. Check all the way back to the ignition switch and beyond back to the battery. Being a 6 volt, make sure all connectors and earths are super-mega clean.
