Yep the title says it all. I took an old defender 90 I managed to get my hands on out into one of the fields to get fire wood today. Drove it out no problem without making to much of a dent in the ground. Stopped her and loaded her up got back in went to pull away and promplty buried myself up to the axles. Yep the worlds biggest prat here didn't notice they'd driven into a peat bog which was fine whilst the landy had momentum but when I stopped and left it still for 5mins it of course sunk in. I'm now having fun breaking tow ropes and turning the air blue trying to get her out again. Have a photo of the my stupidity and a good laugh cause then someone might find it funny. Just to add insult to injury this was the first time i'd even driven her.

Yep got her free this morning. It took a lot of digging, two high lift jacks, 4 sacks of rubble and some hard graft.

Yeah I do wish it had a winch. It will probably get one at some point but will wait a while as a winch and winch bumper would cost more than I paid for the car.
She was a bit of a find to be honest. 2 previous owners the one prior to me for 15 years. Needs to be re-undersealed but not rot that will require welded repairs in either body or chassis and a grand total mileage of 54k from new. Not the quietest or most comfortable vehicle in the world but should be a lot of fun.
My biggest problem with it though comes from it being a truck cab. The drivers seat doesn't go far enough back because of the bulk head so i'm always just a tad to close to the pedals. Fine for short ones but would be uncomfortable for any length of time oh and it rattles like its going out of fashion.

Standard Landrover then..drove a new 1 a couple of weeks back,no nicer to drive Yeah Discovery's are nice to drive if a bit on the wallowy side, defenders on the other hand are just never going to be comfortable. Saying that they are kind of fun in their own way. There aren't many modern vehicles that have as much character and they certainlly keep you on your toes.

Good news. Defender passed its MOT this morning. Had to do a few things to get her through but nothing major.
1. Change the number plate light 2. Radius arm bushes. 3. Bit of welding to in the wiper linkage to get the passenger wiper moving properly. 4. Secure some wiring
Advisories. Will be done quickly as most are things that shouldn't be left to wait.
1. Minor damage on the seat belts. Replace 2. Off side front brake pipe corroded - Replace. 3. Off side front shock absorber slight misting. Replace ASAP
Not a bad showing for a 20yr old Landy.

Paul I have a few bits if you want any/all ? Radiator cap (worth keeping one in the cab because the plastic ones do split when u least expect it) Spare wheel locking nut) 300tdi steering box (needs drop arm bearings/seal) but great as an exchange unit so you're not left without. No money required obviously. Oh, and a couple of swivel gaskets.
