A bit of nice weather and some Daffing got me fixed indicator side repeaters and a new horn. After a good look round I can't see anything else to do before booking the MOT. The engine runs sweet enough, I want to check for any leaks in the exhaust but I can't hear any blowing. I have a full new system ready to fit but, would prefer to do that once MOT'd because I intend to reinstate the hot spot pipes so it's not a quick job. Aw well, at least I know if it fails it won't be major.

So, FINALLY :-) I have got around to doing the final "cabin checks" ready for an MOT. It seems like only yesterday but the months have past since my good intentions were in place.
Anyway, this morning was spent doing the little check on lights, wipers etc. again, and all is fine for MOT. I had already taken her her a short drive to a friendly garage and she drove beautifully, in fact dare I say, better than my 66 ! in terms of how responsive the Vario is, smooth and relaxed with no over-revving. I think I am going to enjoy driving this more than my 66 (if that is possible). So this time next week hopefully, job done.

Some news about this little gem. She is now in new hands, mixed emotions as I didn't intend to sell (or at least for a while) but the right person came along and I was happy to do the deal. The new custodian was brought up with DAFS and has more than a passing interest in them, I couldn't have asked for a better person to take her, and she will be getting finished much quicker than I could have managed.

Matt Having put it back on the road and sorted it mechanically, the interior was almost done and it ran as nice (if not nicer) than any DAF I have known. I was just starting to enjoy the fruits of my labour when I came across the new owner. It just seemed right that he should have it, and already he has shown it at numerous shows and made friends with other owners. At least I am pleased it is back in use and on the road where it belongs.
