I have a soft spot for the BX and GS, the last quirky Cits before they went totally mainstream. Hope it goes well, and you find a buyer once finished.

Gave this half an hours or sos work today. First was to put her underneath and go under the pit to try and find the suspension leaks. First leak is at the sphere which is separate from the wheels. A good cleanup with and running for 5 mins hasn't shown exactly where the leak is but what I can say is its not a pipe or union so I'm suspecting the sphere itself. A walk under the back showed this. That would be where my hydraulic fluid is disappearing. Self levelling and load sensing valve? Again its the part itself not the pipework. Lastly took the offside rear wheel off to gain access to the sill to start the required surgery. It certainly wasn't looking very pretty. First bit of new steel is in and already looking better. Just a shame its such an awkward angle to get the grinder too. I have discovered how much easier my welder is to use now that i'm no longer using it gasless and am using a large bottle of CO2/Argon mix.

More new metal going in today. some of these bits are a bar steward to get a welding torch to but on the other hand it looks like the most difficult part is now done. I think I might even be starting to get the hang of this welding lark. Certainly it seems to be working a lot easier now.

Well done Paul, coming along nicely..at this rate your soon have an mot on her. That's the plan anyway. Got sidetracked with Gremlin yesterday trying to get her clutch changed in time for a run today. Sadly bad weather this morning combined with a few stubborn nuts and bolts have kept her from making the run. I shall be using the LT35 instead.

A shame but at least you have another vehicle to use..you never know,it might be useful during the day.

Some great photo's there Paul.
Is it me or does that first white Mk1 Escort seem to have the back axle set too far back?
I love the Blue Mk1 van, we had one at work when I was a youngster, it was the fastest thing I had driven at the time, 1300 engine and low gearing I suspect, then I had a go in my mates dad's 1300 Marathon and that set a whole new standard for acceleration :-)

Getting there with the Citroen. Sill surgery is now complete. Although I have found another patch to do under the battery tray. So the list now, to make it road legal, is to sort out the LHM leaks which means rebuilding the rear height corrector and front distribution valve. I intend to replace the octopus pipe as well as its notorious for leaking. sorry not a brilliant picture I will get a better one especially now that the welds are dressed. Once id traced the rust back the n/s rear sill needed quite a lot of new metal let in. Well here it is with the new metal let in and sealed
