I shall leave you with another picture outside enjoying the evening sunshine. I always have thought these were good looking cars.

Ok i'm getting tired of welding now. This thing was a lot more rotten than it looked at first glance but saying that I do believe I have broken the back of it and have only another few hours of welding to do. I had noticed a hole hiding under the air box. Well that little 50p size hole turned into this whopper when all cut out. It also necessitated the removal of the airbox and the headlamp cluster for access. Now I had heard that the inner wings on these were very prone to rot at the base of the A pillar. Seeing as there had been some bubbling in that area I thought I should whip off the outer wing for a closer look. Taking the wing off was no real hardship as its bolt on. It turns out that the area I was expecting to find rot in is really not too bad, it looks like someone has repaired it before and not sealed it properly and I haven't got holes just a bit of thinning steel. On the other hand its probably a good thing I took the wing off as it revealed a crack dead centre, that requires a patch this size let in, I've started the airbox repair and I am now kicking myself for cutting the repair patch about 5mm to short and not realising until it was welded in across two sides. Going to be a filler patch going in there and plenty of sealant to stop it rotting again afterwards.

The work I started yesterday is now finished. My n/s front inner wing is now structurally sound. This is probably completely the wrong thing to say but I do believe that I have now finished all of the welding. Remember that hole in the inner wing, what hole?

Been doing some light modifications to this today to improve general usability. I had noticed that driving down narrow unlit roads, like the one to my house, it was quite difficult to see where the back end is going in the mirrors. Rather an oversight really considering that the truck is about 28ft long and as such the rear wheels take a significantly shorter line than the front. The beaver tail also makes it look like the rear over hang is shorter in the mirrors as well. So I decided to do something about it. 3 back lit amber reflectors on either side of the bed make it much easier to see where the back end is and also easier for anyone else to see just how long my truck is. I think if the truck had been more than 3500kg GVW it would be legally required to have them, madness when you consider this is just as long as many heavier duty trucks.

well here she is at home like any car I buy she does need a few bits of work but nothing major. So far the list stands as such Replace cracked ABS reluctor ring. New electric window master switch as the windows are temperamental, read she froze me half to death last night when the drivers window happily wound down but wouldn't go back up again. I have taken the switch apart and cleaned it up enough that the window is now working but judging from the wear on the tracks, and evidence of bodging, this is a temporary fix at best. Indications of a problem with the rear axle as tyres are tyres are wearing alarmingly on the inside edge, hopefully that is just bushes, although she handles well and has no knocks. I intend to do a four wheel alignment tomorrow so that should indicate if their are problems there or if someone has chucked the front tyres on the back after having too much toe out. Saying all that the bodywork is tidy and rot free, the gearbox changes nicely and the engine seems to run on a mixture of velvet and silk. Oh and she has a cream part leather interior which is really tidy and supremely comfortable. Only area that lets the interior down is the steering wheel but I think with a bit of elbow grease and the some saddle soap it should clean up a treat.

Looks like my recovery truck has died. Started it up yesterday and it started normally, ran for about 3 seconds before there was a bang and it cut out. It won't start now at all. Coolant reservoir is empty and the timing appears to have jumped. Not sure how bad the damage is yet but I suspect its not going to be pretty.

Time for another update from West Wales. Over the last week I have embarked on a big project to build a new hardstanding area and in time new covered storage for cars. The first part of the project was to widen the gateway and allow for hard standing around the drive side of the gate. This will also allow me to bring a trailer into the yard area from either direction. Scraped down level with the drive ready for the new surface This is the site where I would like to but up a six pole barn Digger in and starting to clear and level the yard area. Lots of dirt scraped up. You'd be amazed just how much soil gets moved for a project like this, much much more than it looks like at first Started scraping out the yard area and discovered the reason it is so wet and grows nothing. All that was there was a layer of impervious clay sans top soil. Hopefully with it scraped level it should start to drain. Now I have to move that big pile of dirt into the field. This would be a lot easier if my dumper truck actually ran! Note to self fix that blasted dumper!! Yard area fully levelled. Now just going to let it drain off and dry out before finishing the job with a spade ready for the new surface to put down. New surface going down. Quarry scalpings that are £18 a tonne once compacted they will go almost as hard as concrete but for a fraction of the cost. View from the mini digger window as i'm levelling the scalpings. That pile of spoil is pretty massive! Its now fully level and ready to roll only that didn't go to plan as the hired in vibrating roller won't start!
