Flying the flag at Brecon.

Gremlin and I were out yesterday and entered the Brecon and Radnor classic car and motorcycle show. Considering I didn't know about the show Gremlin was not looking her best, in fact she was rather filthy as I do the unthinkable and actually use my classic car. Despite this she proved to be very popular and even managed to ferret out variomatic volvo owner who wanted some advice and parts I pointed them the way of this forum.

A few photos from the day. There were some unusual vehicles there yesterday far from the normal lines of Morris Minors and MGBs.



First up this rather pretty little ragtop, a Sunbeam Alpine.



Next up a LHD Renault Estafette van.



I'm not going to tell you what this is in the hope that somebody recognise it. I have never seen one and until yesterday didn't know they exist.



DMC DeLorean, without a flux capacitor. Stainless steel body on these makes them rather unique.



Gilbern. Only a hundred or so of these made. Its a GRP body with MGB running gear made in Wales.



Vauxhall Cresta just like my Grandpa had when they were new.



Humber not sure of the model though I think its a Sceptre although I'm sure someone on here can confirm what it is.



This is either a Riley Kestrel or a Wolsey Hornet, either way its a posh mini with a boot.



This Panther's registration number was utterly appropriate as it was approximately the same length as the QE2



and this 500 was as little as the panther was big.



Ford Cortina



A proper yank tank here. Ford Thunderbird this was very amusing to watch the owner trying to manoeuvre on a packed show field.



and I included this as we all know how much John adores them.

Well done Paul,let's hope the vario Volvo owner makes contact..was his a V66 or 340?..we stock parts for both now.

I only realised after I got home that I forgot to take one before my phone went flat. I will do better at Aberaeron show on Saturday. As the Variomatic Volvo it was a 340 and the parts he needs are strut top mounts.

Paul is it an Austin Kimberley (or Tasman)? I'm not 100% sure about the name without looking it up, but Landcrab doors stand out a gazillion miles and I guess it's Australian.

Well if I thought the turnout at Brecon last weekend was good, well it was nothing on todays attendance at Aberaeron the field was literally full to bursting with an attendance of well over 200 cars, several trucks, a steam engine and about 100 tractors.

Picture time. Lets start with a rather nice Humber Hawk

These are starting to appear more and more often at classic car shows. Well I suppose they are getting to that age now lets face it when was the last time you saw one on the road. Ford Sierra Saphire



Then we have a rather beaten up Reliant. I can't remember the model but I know that it wasn't a kitten.



One for our friends in the states. A Lincoln Continental.

A tank of a coach built roller. I dread to think how much that thing weighs

Yay finally someone decided the much maligned Austin Maxi is worth showing, good for them. The same could be said for the Triumph Acclaim in the background.



Ermm not sure what the green car is. It had this weird belt drive transmission and a little air-cooled twin pot.



That funny little car shows up again can't think what that is.



Now i'm sure all of us have seen an Austin 7 at shows before but who can say they have seen an Austin 6?



Some of the other areas of interest at the show were things like this display of vintage guns.



My local bodyshop was out with a display of some of their work including this gorgeous Chevrolet Camaro

I shouldn't think that it will be too long before the early ones of these start to be attendees at shows but a Camel Trophy spec disco was always going to turn heads.



1972 4 axle ERF with a Gardner Diesel



Another ERF different engine and this time a tractor unit. With a Willys Jeep hiding behind it.

Morris Minor pickup



Who likes tractors? Well tough if you don't as now your getting pics of them. Vintage shows around where I live are always well attended by tractors. Now we shall start the tractors with this twin engined Fordson. Would you believe me if I told you that it's factory?



A mainstay for British farmers the trusty Massey Ferguson 35.



I've got one of these. Both are Fordson Dexta's



Allis Chalmers crawler. Owner didn't take part in the low speed race, shame as i'm sure this would have won.



A rather unusual tractor up next a BMC Mini.



These are a rather unusual tractor. The field marshal has a single cylinder hot bulb engine which can either be started by handle or by the use of a shotgun shell and a hammer.




This lightweight McCormick Farmhall has such high ground clearance to allow it to ride over the tip of crops without causing damage



John Deere. I haven't seen one of these before it was the only tractor their today with a horizontal cylinder engine.



Allis Chalmers. Another high ground clearance tractor.



Another vehicle I have at home. Petter PH1 powered 3/4 tonne dumper.

A perspective shot to to give an idea of the size of the show. There's that funny little green car in the front row again!



This is a picture of the strangest race. All the tractors where lined up along one side of the ring. They then had to traverse the ring then reverse back across the ring. The last tractor to finish being the winner. They were not allowed to stop except to engage reverse nor where they allowed to slip the clutch. So the real test was how slowly could you drive your tractor without stalling it, which is much more difficult than it sounds. As you can see some where much better at it than others.



Excuse the finger, but this is a BMB light tractor. They where used particularly during war years to plow up areas of the farm that a tractor couldn't reach in a concerted effort to increase food production.

Oh ok back to the cars then. A rather modified mk1 cortina.



These last few photos where taken late in the day when people had started to disappear. One Bond Bug with matching trailer.



Lastly we have a Hillman Imp with some rather tasteful modifications.
