Hi,
i am interested in a DAF 66 that will require new sills. Where can I buy them and how much are these? Also how much for the two variomatic belts? Again is this an easy job?
Cheers
Andrew

Hi again Andrew..
The owners club sell new belts, best buy from them..
But before you do,it's best to learn a little about Dafs before jumping in the deep end.. The transmissions are the things that scare people, easy enough to maintain when you have worked on them a few times but will scare you when you look at it for the 1st time.
All Dafs suffer from rot, main areas to check..sills/jacking points, rear quarters, front wings, boot lids/bottom edge of tailgates on estates.
Poor running issues are normally ignition based..i.e.points,plugs,dizzy cap, rotor arm, leads or could be out on the timing.
Clutch issues will be plate/pressure plate worn..on 66's..all other Dafs have clutch shoes..to replace a clutch on any Daf,the engine has to come out..
Check both ends of the prop, these give with time but can be changed without pulling the engine out fully.
Electrics are mainly ok,igition barrels are the things that go the most..
Good luck and plenty of help here...and we do most parts.
Matt

Fun...Dafs bring a smile to your face.
They drive well and are easy to get on with.
