I must say that I have been rather neglectful of Gremlin recently. About 6 months ago she snapped her throttle cable a week later she ran out of test. Considering that she doesn't get used much in the winter she just sat until today despite me having a fresh cable on the shelf. Anyway despite my unacceptable laziness I decided to pull my finger out and get her back on the road so hooked a battery up, turned her over and she said "Screw you! Think you can leave me for 6 months without starting me do you now." A little investigation showed a lack of spark, which was quickly found to be caused by corroded points, after cleaning up the points she started straight up.
I then took her for a little run around the farm and all seemed well bar the brakes. It is amazing that when you drive a car everyday you don't notice slow deteriation. Leave it for a bit and get back in and you notice fairly quickly. This is what happened here. Because I had been driving her daily before she was parked up, I hadn't noticed how badly the brakes needed adjusting. Now that they are all adjusted, no seized adjusters thank god, all seems well. Test is booked for Thursday so wish us luck.

Good luck Paul, let's hope the tester is kind to Gremlin.. I think my local stations new tester was rather taken with Gremlin. She passed first time 3 advisories this year. Front silencer slight leak of exhaust gases. Tail pipe slight leak of exhaust gases O/S front wheel bearing slight play. Looks like I will be needing a new exhaust before the year is out but the wheel bearing probably just wants the castellated nut nipped up. Here's to another years Daffing. Brake test figures were pretty impressive 100 on the service brake (pass mark 50) and 37 on the hand brake (pass mark 25)

I had a free afternoon yesterday so decided to give Gremlin some pampering. Clay barred, polished and then treated to a carnauba wax treatment and Gremlin is looking good even if I do say so myself. I did a lot with the DA polisher but still had about 4 hours of hand polishing as I ran out of covers for the mop. The wax treatment was also done by hand.

That does look very nice. Always satisfying to give a car a deep clean and that's the same colour as my 66.
