battery discharged enough to not be able to run all those things at once.. as obviously foot on brake will light up the bulbs..

See your point Nick, VUF is a 6v car after all and dynamo powered (or not). I'd have thought though that whilst tootling along at 50 or so, the dynamo light would go out. 6v light glowing on idle is almost compulsory otherwise. 12v conversion??

Betty's tends to glow slightly even at speed if you have too much on (curiously wipers seem to be more prone to causing it than lights!) She's never discharged though, except when we've left lights on etc.
The other one to check is the battery earth lead where it goes to the bulkhead - that seems to be a relatively unreliable connection on these for some reason, and can cause both symptoms. Nothing a little emery cloth won't cure (for a while) though.

Tend to agree with Joe on this one. Check your earth connection from the battery.

Well she started just fine and dandy this morning. I guess the lights, indicators and brake lights were a bit much. i will check over the earth connection as suggested.
