Hi Everyone,
Still can't walk very far, but am able to "puff" my way over to the barn/workshop and potter for a short while. Believe me you don't want to catch the "dreaded". Having spent over 2 weeks in ICU in RD&E, I was releived when I was released. I was told it could be several months before I was somewhere back to normal. Having lost over a stone in weight, I am now trying to gain weight. My care in hospital was second to none, but even before Christmas the hospital staff were showing signs of stress with many off with Covid and stress. Enough of me,please, all of you, isolate and be really careful until we have all received a jab!
Happy New Year.

There's a slight, very slight chance that you were treated by my niece, Lucy, who is carrying out her medical training there. Glad to know you're slowly recovering now and I wish you all the best, as I'm sure do all other Daffers. Out of interest, do you have any idea from whom, or how, you may have caught it?

Hi Andrew, I went into the RD&E on 29/11 early and had an operation to remove a cancerous lesion on my neck,I was out of surgery just before lunch and had to wait for a bed in a ward. The following morning at around 10am the surgeon came down to see me and said everything was fine and I could be discharged, I rang Chris to drive the 50 odd miles to pick me up. I either picked up the virus from the ward or when I walked the length of the hospital to the main entrance and waited for Chris.Covid developed in the next 5 days and we booked a test in Launceston.Which came back positive.Luckily our daughter[Advanced Nurse Practioner], came over to take out the 36 staples in my neck and realised I had developed a severe infection, so it was a 50 odd mile ambulance ride back to Exeter and straight into ICU. Luckily I recovered to the point where the hospital allowed me home on an early release scheme a few days before Christmas. This is why I implore folks to please take care, isolate, and be aware that places where you may think it's safe may not be totally secure. The problem is that Covid attacks the respritory system and damages the lungs.I had oxygen through my nose day and night for almost 2 weeks and I still have to check my oxygen levels during the day.The doctors said it will probably be many months before I'm somewhere back to normal.
