Ohh, that is SOOOO Services - punish the innocent party and leave them to deal with the guilty! I'm impressed

OK chaps, enough hijacking this thread - let's hear more about Ena, Mr Fraud. I would have never thought that a set of pink seat covers could provoke so much discussion No progress on Ena, I'm afraid... I spent the whole of Saturday working on my 'reliable daily' Merdemobile. French engineering* and build quality* mean that what began as a simple rear brake shoe replacement has now turned to a replacement of everything in the rear hubs apart from the stub axles... Merde ! Yep and I'm waiting for the new thread on his 44. What 44 ? I tried to resist temptation, but failed. I'll put a topic together sometime later this week.

(Mini-)Update time !
I've not had much tinkering time lately, but I did manage to take Ena's vacuum valve thingy apart yesterday. I also performed the infamous 'blow test' which showed that the primary diaphragms are intact.
What I found when I took the valve apart was that the 'change up' side o-ring was borked and the main vacuum pipe from the inlet manifold was a much looser fit than I would have expected.
If my understanding of the system is correct, both faults would reduce the vacuum reaching the diaphragm and therefore shift the 'change up' point to a higher speed / more throttle point. Which would explain why Ena needs a good 35MPH before the variomatic begins shifting up.
Rich has already put a BBB repair kit in the post for me and I'll hopefully find some time next weekend to rebuild the valve.
I also think I should change the variomatic gear oil, as it's likely that it has been in there for quite a long time... I have 80W90 and 75W90 in the shed, has anyone used any of the two in their variomatic ?
