Pete, I did put a zip-tie through that donut but it still decided that the roadside was a far better place for it than Ena's exhaust.
Not much done on the interior yet, watch this space !

They've never been the most economical cars, if you can get 30mpg then you're doing well. How can you say that?? Boris gets a comfortable 32 - 35mpg overall average and over 40mpg on a run. That's when he's working of course.......

Ena is probably returning 30MPG for now, I suppose there's some space for improvement as I get more used to how the variomatic works. I still don't think I'll ever see 40MPG like Joe, though...
In other news, I received the 42mm exhaust rubber which I had ordered. I installed it hurriedly in the morning, before setting off for work, and was pleased to find that it fits perfectly. I took the belt and braces approach by zip-tying it to the hangers, to make sure it doesn't ping off.
If the weather allows, I'll do the valve clearances in the weekend and perhaps even get started on the interior !

Not much to report on Ena... I'm still commuting in her at least once a week, and she's been a paragon of reliability ! Here she is, looking rather smart next to the dull euroboxes at work : I must really get cracking with that interior...

Update !
Finally got round to adjusting the valve clearances on Ena today... what a difference ! I'm generally a fan of the old saying 'a tappy valve is a happy valve' but Ena's clearances were so far out that I regret not having done them earlier. With the valves done and after some minor carb tinkering, she now runs very smoothly indeed and is ready for the roadtrip to Essex tomorrow !
In the spirit of 'Drive It Day', I also decided to detail* her to concours* standard, though the efforts of the local birdlife and 150 miles of road grime may have her looking slightly less pristine by the time I arrive at ED central tomorrow.

Great news. And I did some detailing earlier today. Well, I got the sponge and bucket of warm soapy water out... And I too have fallen victim to local bird life, seemingly those who suffer from diahrroea...

she'll do 150 miles in her sleep, mines only an air cooled nail and she owuld regularly pull weekends of 600 miles or more as I toured down south to visit my folks and everywhere inbetween... love it to bits.. (even if it is leaking more oil than the torey canyon at the moment

Update !
Ena made it to ED central without issues, unfortunately she decided to blow her headgasket on the way back and returned home on the back of a recovery truck :-(
More details tomorrow, in the meantime does anyone have a liner clamp I can borrow ?
