Hi all.
Hope we're well?
I need to to get my 66 MoT'd and it's got a lot of play in the steering. I have noticed that when I enter my drive way which is rather rough, I have a rattling sound from down near the floor where the rack joins the column. However, I can't see or feel any play down there at the bolts and rubber dampener.
I just wondered if anyone else has experienced the same and if it needs a whole new column or rack or if there's something easier that'll need replacing.
Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Jay..
Might be worth checking the 2 bolts at the end of the column incase they have worked loose..
The bushes in the racks go,a Danny job for replacements I'm afraid..otherwise check track rod ends/bull joints/wheel bearings..
Matt.

If it turns out out to be bushings in the rack, I'm sure a local machinist could whip some up fairly simply. If not, I had a machinist local to me whip up some bronze bushings for the manual advance weights in my 66 distributor, I could ask him if he would be interested in making a few bushings for you if you have the dimensions and send them to you in the post.
Thank you,
