It has been quiet hasn't it ;D Not gone away, just been busy with all sorts of stuff, which meant i neglected my forum time ... have to rectify that Not too much to update on Goldie. She's been in the garage for a couple of months going nowhere and getting dusty, so decided to treat her to the afternoon school run today ( was meant to get her out for a drive at the weekend but that didn't plan out ). Plus it was a surprise for my 2 boys. They both had big smiles when they saw i'd come in the Daf However, i think Goldie is getting her own back for me not taking her out too often. We got just to the turning for my road and there was a loud noise, an increase in engine noise, and a loss of power. Managed to get round the corner and on to the driveway. Turned the engine off, opened the bonnet and saw : Is this goldie spitting her dummy out, as i'm pretty sure that should be somewhere else. Darren

Hiya darren, good to see you back. Sorry that Goldie has been misbehaving. All Daf's have a naughty streak, VUF has taken a dislike to having an exhaust tailpipe for some reason and takes great delight in trying to shed it at any given moment she can.
Keep going with her, she will see the erro of her ways soon enough. Everyone kept telling me it was part of the bonding process and I think they are actually right. Piccies of the swap would be helpful too.
Cheers
Ken

I'll definetly have to take some pics as i go along, if only to help me figure out what i'm doing ;D Just out of interest, how easy / difficult is a head change on one of these strange little Dutch cars

Easy! Disconnect the inlet manifold, then one bolt to take the rocker cover off and another two to get the rocker gear off, which let's you get to the head. Here's the rub: It might be an engine out job albeit you might get away with removing the front and rear mounts on that side whilst supporting on a trolley jack. If you can get the angle low enough you could withdraw the head through the wheelarch.

Received a parcel today - thanks Matt. Think it had had a rough journey as it was covered in official ' box was damaged but we've now secured it ' post office tape, but all seems good. Just need to figure out what on earth to do with it now ;D Got a bit of a crazy week this week, but might try and have a look at both reference books and Goldie at the weekend and see where it all goes
