Thought i best get round to giving Goldie a new thread, so here it is After a chat with Ken, i went down to see Goldie on the 13th May, and after enjoying my first DAF experience, became Goldies new owner. We had a nice drive back of about 90mins, in which Goldie behaved very well and i got used to left foot braking The plan will be to continue sorting out the rust spots on the body, keep her nice and healthy, and just enjoy the driving We've already been to one classic car show, where Goldie was the only DAF, but due to only finding out about the show a few days beforehand, we were in general parking, and not the main arena, which was a shame, but it was still a fairly good show. I've not started to do any work on her yet, but i have managed to make space in the garage : One question i did have about her, which i'm sure someone on here can answer is regarding the interior. I understand that Goldie should have the material interior due to being a supa luxe, but this has been changed for the leather type interior ( apart from the back of the rear seat ) which gets nice and hot on a sunny day ;D Was the original interior changed due to it being damaged, or did one of the previous owners just prefer the leather ? And hopefully, sometime in the next month, i will get down to Essex Dafs

Yes she would have originally had cloth seats but they weren't very hard wearing and as a result most of them have now disintergrated. They really don't like sunlight. The vinyl interior will be from an earlier car either 44 or 55 as 66 and 46 didn't have it. The original seats would have had adjustable backrests as well.

Well, stop the press Daz! The original cloth seats are in quite nice condition and can be found at Essex DAFs Central. Ken prefered vynl at the time so we swopped them over, if I remember correctly? Or was that Snowstrop Ken, I loose count sometimes! ;D Speak with Matt regarding a swap over. Plan plenty of extra time though as Matt will ply you with plenty of tea! ;D A visit next month would be great. I believe Matt should be there most if not all weekends; sadly I shan't be around the first and second ones. Well done regarding the garage, much easier to protect any rust if they are garaged. My 33 would have been much worse by now had she not been garaged in her old age. Left foot braking is great and makes your DAF feel like driving a go-kart and the owner a go-kart driver. It does get confusing when you get into another car, especially a manual one! ;D Strangely, if I right foot brake in my 33 it feels like the brakes aren't there, but with my left foot I have more feel. Goldie's brakes are about as good as DAF brakes can be, she's such a lovely little car. Glad to hear she sounds like she is is in caring hands.

The vinyl seats first went into Snowstrop and then into Goldie. I have a vehement dislike of cloth upholstery. Vinyl rules!!!
LFB is fab! Let me know when you are planning to pop down and i will do my best to attend.

I have a vehement dislike of cloth upholstery. Vinyl rules!!! No it bloody doesn't! (Unless of course you're a masochist. Vinyl seats are either too damn hot or too damn cold.) Vinylelour rules!!!FTFY.

MATERIALIt's the only way to keep your buns from sticking in the cold or burning in the heat !! Goldie deserves the original cloth seating. Goldie's twin (Butterscotch) agrees !!! John
