No camping for me thanks Paul. I can give three people lifts potentially, but two would have to be very, very short and/or double jointed in their backs and/or hedonists. I believe its only one passenger per exhibit anyway.

Good news..... ;D.....Bad news..... .....time ..... The good news is we are still planning on visiting Wales... ;D The bad news is it wont be in LLB...... This is because of MY body failing , not LLB`s ...unfortunately ive got a number of health probs at the moment , the worst side-effect of one is blurred vision , not really conductive to good driving............ Carmen has offered to do the driving , but , due to her health , she can only drive cars with power steering + brakes ...... Sorry chaps n chappess`s......

Flippin' eck - I'm well looking forward to this trip! All I need now is a certain coupe to have a rear windscreen fitted and all is well in the world. Does make me wonder though, I've made naff all plans for this and Matt and I leave for the land of the druids next Friday... So, is anyone wanting to meet us en route? I'm thinking that motorway services somewhere around Brum is a good point to meet up. And Nick, are you still coming and do you need collecting from the black country? Do let us know people, otherwise Matt and I shall just trundle up at our leisure, making frequent tea stops, of course. ;D And SuperJoe, what's the best route please for those of us who like decent driving roads rather than motorway? I remember the A5 is a lovely fast road with plenty of three abreast overtaking but how about the valleys? And Snowdonia? Any route advice gratefully received!

Our preferred route between ED and here is M11 up to Cambridge, A14 to the M6, M6 up to Brum, then off at J 10A (M54 for Telford) which becomes the A5. Then follow the A5 up through Wales until you hit the A55 at Bangor, where you turn left onto the A55 for Anglesey.
Expect about 3 - 3 1/2 hours once you get to the M54 - it may be quicker but thats about average with the tourists about. If you get that far and have had enough, you can carry on up the M6 to the M56 and take that west towards Chester. That brings you in on the A55 and is quicker (about 20 miles longer but dual carriageway right through) but a lot less scenic!
The M11 / A14 / M6 bit is just to cut journey time - any other route to Brum will do just as well. A5 all the way should work quite well, but gets a little confused around Brum / Lichfield area.

Thanks Joe and that looks like a good route.
Last time I was on the A5 it was a little dicey with cars overtaking cars overtaking cars...wonder if it has changed at all...
Paul, happy to meet at Bangor if you like and will probably be a case of letting you know when we leave services at Brum so we can coordinate.

Thanks Joe and that looks like a good route. Last time I was on the A5 it was a little dicey with cars overtaking cars overtaking cars...wonder if it has changed at all... There are a few stretches before you get into Wales where you get the good old 4-abreast (2 each way) on a wide bit of single carriageway but its generally not too bad. Once you pass Oswestry and get across the border there's not much chance of that happening - in fact, theres not much chance of overtaking at all ;D

True enough, mind it won't stop the locals overtaking you on a blind bend with a pint of beer in one hand and a fag in the other Wouldnt know about that - when I drive it (usually on the way back from the south west) I'm too busy with my bottle of scrumpy and ploughman's to notice what they're doing.
