Meh! What a day. Today saw a good run over to Essex to do some Daffing. Part way down the A12 I passed an APNR van. I looked in my mirror and saw the BMW bike pull away from the siding. Oh dear, someone is going to get a pull thought I. He pulled along side and I wondered why he wasn't going past. He shouted over for me to follow him, so I did. Like I had an option of outpacing him in an '87 1300cc Escort!!!
We pulled onto the forecourt of a local services whereupon he told me that the Escort was showing as uninsured. Hmm, said I. I confirmed my insurance broker, etc, etc. Eventually he came back and said that I wasn't actually insured for the car as the insurance company had made a mistake with one of the numbers on the reg. He said that they had amended the details and he hoped I had a pleasant day. Nice copper, no crappy attitude and seemed keen to resolve the issue without any need for a ticket. I was just a bit bemused throughout the whole episode.
A story of crap piggyback connectors, crap wiring and recurring electrical shorts. Not a great 66 day to be honest. Enough of an arse day to make me have a rethink about the 66.
Topped off by a nightmare journey along the A12 following a tragic lorry accident which saw the lorry overturning and bursting into flames. Sadly the driver died.

That sucks Ken but some Essex plod can be decent, glad you found a nice one! Martin had a similar thing a couple of years ago when Tilbury police threw him in the nick for a couple of hours for driving a stolen car. Well, it was stolen but also recovered, the latter not having been recorded on the NPC by Thames Valley plod. Hey ho. Don't be disheartened mate, there's a good car hiding under Ena's rippled flanks. All the best DAFs put up a struggle - like Gavina did for me, and, erm... Snowdrop did for you. Hmm, not selling this am I? But hang on in there, faint heart and all that...

Poor Matt, he went through almost all of the bloody connectors that I bought and we were still having issues. The only way I can see this being sorted is to have a new loom. There is something fucked up in there but I cannot think where. It could be anywhere, seriously. I hate electrics with a passion and I just do not have the money to hire an auto sparks or to get a new loom. I can cope with interiors, basic mechanicals and bodywork but no electrics. I hear ebay calling and then maybe I need to save some money and get a Daf that is less of a project. I dunno at the moment. Am in a lot of pain at the moment due to yesterdays 3 hours jaunt

Have all the earth connections been checked Ken?? Has the wiring copper been examined?
The reason I ask...You know of my recent issues with the Kalmar mostly caused by faulty earth connections and heavily corroded copper. In many places I had to string new sections (leaving some of the old in the loom, those were marked as such)

The wiring will be examined with a box of matches and half a litre of unleaded. I hate wiring issues with a passion.

Cheers Nick. I guess that our bodgery hasn't helped either. I'll give Matt a call and see what is what. Cheers.
