Cast iron or anything cut or grind it into an old loo pull chain weight shape Drill a hole in it a push a BBQ spatula handle and shaft in to the hole hey presto an old heavy soldering iron heat it up with the blow lamp and solder the buggers on .

I can't see anything wrong with that garden, looks perfectly reasonable to me! Like the phonebox btw.

Ah yes.... The Tardis (callbox) and the DAF are the best bits in that yard. Although the 2CV looks kind of sweet as well. John

Ozzie, that garden is brilliant ! Edmund Trebus would be proud ! Love the tin snail as well, shame that their prices have gone through the roof : even projects are now over £1K !
Lazy Update !
Ordered and received a 100W solder gun, tried it and was infuriated to discover it still is not man enough for the job !
Next step would be to take out the blowtorch and try ozzie's method. If that doesn't work I reckon I'll reach the end of my tether and attack the bugger with the MIG !
In other news, the ebay engine arrived and I spent some time checking it over. It's an 850cc one out of a 6v car, so a perfect match for Lazy.
It clearly hasn't run in a while, as the throttle spindle is stuck and the HT leads are thoroughly buggered. However, the flywheel turns smoothly, I couldn't feel any endfloat (though I suspect that a boxer twin won't have much, even if the bearings are borked) and removing the valve covers revealed mucky but properly working valvegear.
I may be an optimist, but I reckon I would bolt it straight into a car and try to fire it up. Of course, there's no need for this at the time, so the engine has been safely stored in the shed.

Go on fire it up if I had a spare starter I wood look at doing mine. Does an 850 fit in a 32 or 33 ? I think a rover v8 will he he he!

Ozzie, the 850 is slightly wider than the earlier engines so you may need to adjust the inner wings to fit it in an A-body. £1500 for engine bits sounds pricey, hopefully the works at 'Somerset DAFs' will be worth it.
Lazy Update !
I spent some time on the ungrateful old beast yesterday... Faffed about with the starter a bit more, and I really can't get the new brush properly soldered. In the end I gave up and decided to try the starter off the spare engine.
Bolts were very rusty but a bit of swearing later and the starter was off. I then dismantled it with the help of my impact driver and BFH and cleaned fourty years' worth of grime off the inside. I left the brushes alone as they had less wear than the ones from Lazy. I reassembled the whole thing and installed it in Lazy.
Then the moment of truth... Turn of the key and the bastard thing still turns very slowly ! ARGH !
I am starting to despair... All the wiring and contacts are now good, I know the starter is good, battery has enough juice. Next step would be to take the front panel off and try to turn the engine by hand to make sure there's nothing going on with the cylinders. ARGH !
