SHHHHHH.......This is the only forum I have posted this news. Only two people in the States know I have just purchased this- I finally found & purchased my favorite DAF model...She is a 1970 (Type 2) DAF 55 Coupe' in Mimosa. ;D ;D ;D ;D The owner claims it is a fully running DAF with only minor surface rust. The only bad bit I can see are the seats and rear bench (which will need a good re-upholstering). YES..... she is RHD!!! Oh well, sometimes you can't have it all (only kidding ) Now to find a name (The obvious choice has already been taken) and make arrangements to have her brought over from California. John

Well done John! That'll be Carl's 55 then! I had a sneaky suspicion that you'd buy it. So Carl's in CA? When are you expecting her arrival? If you need any 'B' body parts then let us know. The seats all do that so we won't be able to help with those though. Is this one going to leap-frog others in the restoration queue? As for the wheel being on the correct side - well, you can't win them all! ;D

As for a name hows about Sandra as she is a sort of sandy colour Thanks....yes, it was Carl's 55 and he claims it is a running DAF, so the only real issue should be the seats and rear bench (they are now covered with blankets). The car has cleaned up really well and the motor looks good too. We struck a sweet deal and the car included a boot full of spares and accessory bits (2 suspension bars, four Ronal Alloy wheels, a dash shelves, a set of white DAF driving lights as well as a set of Yellow fog lights). I have just contacted a transport company and it will cost as much to bring the car from California to Vermont as it would from the UK to Vermont. So everything (with transport) for $ 4,000.00. SANDRA is perfect Paul....excellent choice. ;D ;D ;D John

She is lovely John. Given the rarity of 55 coupes in the states, her general good condition and factoring in that somebody has already paid once to get her over here from Blighty then I would say well bought. You must feel like a kid waiting for Christmas day! ;D

LOL....Pete. When it comes to waiting for a new DAF to arrive I am a kid. ;D Would be nice to have instant gratification...but I do have SOME patience. @ Matt- If that package has not left yet........ Do you by chance have a round windscreen vent for the left & a spare glovebox door (with the woodgrain and Chrome strip still in place) you might be able to tuck in ?? As you can see from the interior photo the vent is missing a few bits and the cover had been stripped for some reason. As you can see....there will be some serious restoration needed on the seats. I can only imagine (read: Fear & Dread) what is under those covers. John

I will probably end up doing some re-upholstery work on the seats.... OMG...they are worse than Animal's seats. There may also be an extra set of highback seat frames included in the sale...but I will see when it arrives. John
