Oh yes, the seats ARE bad. The complete Type 2 front grill is in the boot. I was worried about that as well Matt but it is there and looks great. John

That's a relief John although I don't see any of the black grill slats. Matt is also missing some of those. Speaking with Danny of DAFHobby it would seem they are made of pure unobtainium.

We will see upon it's arrival in Vermont and start to unpack her Boot. Sandra is due to be picked up on 9 August (Tuesday) and should arrive on the 16th...perfect timing because I will be on Holiday that week trying to finish up the interior Museum work. John

Just found the original photo of the Grille which Carl had posted just after he purchased the 55 in 2009. The Grille looks in perfect, complete condition then (hopefully it remains that way). Carl called me last night and said the 55 was packed with all the spare bits and accessories, there was just enough room for the lorry driver to sit so it can be loaded on Tuesday. ;D ;D ;D This should be interesting....LOL John

Bugger! That elusive black trim is missing from yours too John. Look between the first and second stainless grill strip. The gap is bigger there and you can see the clips for retaining the black trim. Ditto for the bottom of the gril where the other black trlm looks too short or is broken, evidenced by the other white plastic trim retaining clip. Hope they are in the car.

It's interesting how certain items are made of that elusive substance called 'unobtainium'. I don't think there is any rhyme or reason to it. Odd.

Couldn't agree more Ken, apparently 'unobtanium' was DAF's own brand rival to bakerlight in the late '50s John, I know Danny doesn't have any of the black grill strips but I reckon the DCN might have them if only we knew of a DCN member who could make enquiries...

"If push comes to shove" (American saying, sorry chaps)... I'll have to see how they are made and possibly fabricate replacements for the Black grille slats myself...and send a set across the pond for a certain White 55 Estate. It is conformed...ALL my Black Grille bits are all missing. DAMN!Yesterday was a GOOD day though. SANDRA arrived at DAF Central-USA at 7:00 am. Despite the nasty weather and her long trip she started right up and was proudly driven off the transport. Although I had been warned by the Seller that the only way it would run was with the Choke on. I gave her a quick peek to see what the problems were.... After replacing the strange looking in-line Gas filter assembly with a small replacement and tweeking the Carb a little SANDRA idled without using the Choke. So, a quick trip around the neighborhood was called for...she ran just fine. Vario was good, brakes were fine...so she is a runner! ;D ;D ;D At days end she was parked inside to meet her playmates. I did manage to give her a quick bath before hand...3,000+ miles on a transport, she was filthy. Maybe tomorrow (if I have time) a good Polish & Wax. John
