Saturday evening I was able to finish some painting.... From this plain Ronal wheel.... To this... After I complete the other three I can install the new tyres and make SANDRA sparkle. ;D John

Nice wheels John. I wish I wasn't so fiscally challenged (aka 'piston broke') at the moment because I'd like to treat Gavina to something nice, not least as one tyre is loosing air at an alarming rate! Seems to me my only choice is Minilight but I haven't been brave enough to 'request a quote'!

Seems to me my only choice is Minilight but I haven't been brave enough to 'request a quote'! LOL...If you want to be "Piston Broke" a little longer just try to purchase a set of Minilite wheels. The price is staggering, to say the least. I consider myself VERY lucky that I found the RONAL & GOODYEAR wheels for a mere $100.00 per wheel...but that was still $800.00 plus shipping (only on 4 of them). The Minilites are far more expensive because they are more desirable on a DAF. John John

I'm not sure that I can get a size to fit anyway John. Minilight 13 inch rims come in both 5.5J and 6J which seem a bit much to me (I seem to recall DAF wheels being 4.5). Would they even fit ok? Otherwise I might consider joining the DCN if they can supply any NOS wheels, but again I think I'd end up paying a fair whack for them. Do you know whether they do John? What to do, what to do...

The 13" Minilites would fit just fine on Gavina, although a tad wider they would pose no problems at all Pete. Of course the Standard wheels are FAR less expensive. I would see if Basher (or anyone else) has a spare set which you could bead blast and repaint...that would be my option if I could not find a set of Minilites. How bad is that wheel which keeps leaking air? Is there damage to it? Did the installer use a bead sealer when the new tyres were mounted? Personally I have never had a wheel (regardless of damaged edges) which would not hold air using a Bead Sealer compound. I make it a standard habit when mounting any tyre. John

Well, I might just get a quote from Minilights to satisfy curiosity John. Assume the small width.
It's that age old corrosion problem, especially at the rear of the wheel. I did visit a wheel restorer but was told they are too bad to blast.
It's probably the rim but the tyre shop wants £16 a rim just to refit and rebalance.

The old Irish Duffer (AKA Billy Halligan, my paint man) is busy doing his magic on Sandra this week. The body will be gone over with a microscope to eliminate any flaws, dents, divits, etc. I can't wait to see her in full color again. ;D Right now I am completing an inventory of 55 parts so I know what I have and don't...just in case! photo updates coming real soon John
