Welcome to this occasionally (and irregularly) updated thread about what's happening down at LDC. There might be some DAF action, there more than likely be some Volvo CVT action and I'll no doubt sneaky in some Honda action when there's nothing better to do. Regrettably there are no chickens featuring in this thread. Friday saw the arrival of this: DSCF7681 by macplaxton, on Flickr A DAF 66 1300. (Some of you might even recognise it) It's not mine, but has made its way here because of some drive issue. There's a horrible noise from the car when D or R is selected. I've had a quick gander today*, before discovering that I've been landed with a 0315h start in the morning, so that's all for now. I'm off to my pit (annoyed because I cannae have a wee dram tonight of all nights ). *initial inspection suggests that the last person to work on this primary unit wants a dry slap.

DAF Nut
Those who say it can't be done, should not interupt the people doing it !

Nice Sir Richard. Good to see some reports from the Emerald Isle.

I'll try and get what I can up, when I can. The problem is, if I spend time on forums, I'm not spending it on actually working on my cars... Plus jobs take that bit longer if I keep stopping to take pictures!

Great, look forward to updates. Don't worry, no being sidelined here into a separate sub-folders for groups of DAF owners around the regions (well, except for the Orkney and Shetland owners that is)...

Well things aren't going as planned in the LDC residence...
Had a plumbing leak - now fixed. Got a phone that doesn't like it's new Tesco SIM very much and reboots randomly, about every hour, very annoying. PC died last night, a short sizzle and then nothing. Just some of the joys of the last week.
Some stuff did arrive in the post on time and I've been back to the engineering place with it.
An update with photos will appear when I've done some CPR on the PC. It's either the power supply or the on-board graphics. Let's hope it's the former.
Now off to work, so spare time minimal until Sat...

Just to let you all know the LDC mainframe is back up and running as of last night. After moping around PC-less since Tuesday night (and too busy working 12h+ shifts), yesterday the tide of bad luck changed a little. I had a butchers at Adverts.ie for another computer and managed to sort myself out with just a similar mobo on its own for the computer. Luckily the seller was in and responded pronto and it wasn't too far out of my way in central Dublin to do a detour on the way to the mother-in-law's. 40 minutes later I had a second-hand mobo in my mitts after handing over 30 yoyos. Got back from there earlier evening and set about reassembling the box and got it booted up late last night - not particularly handy when I had to get up again at 2.45am for work . Necessary evil though as these sort of jobs need to be got out of the way quickly and without infant interference... Fortunately, the PSU isn't dead, the CPU is good, the 4x2GB RAM hasn't gone south and it was just the board that came a cropper. I have an idea what is wrong with that so might and try revive it at a later date Early to bed tonight as I've only had a few mini power naps during the day and I'm cream crackered.

An update is the pipeline here...but first I must don the overalls as the sun is out, not a cloud in the sky and Rudy's car is pleading "fix me pleeeeeeease!"

Now I jacked the front of the car up, then decided to cut up an old GS exhaust system to fit in the scrap bin in the shed. Noting the time (noon), I tidied up and went out a few errands with the rest of the family, hoping to be home by 3pm to continue. As it was, we got home at 5.30pm and I was in no mood to do any work. At 3.10pm this happened: IMG_20150610_151001_244 by macplaxton, on Flickr IMG_20150610_151522_018 by macplaxton, on Flickr IMG_20150610_152057_377 by macplaxton, on Flickr Oh cock....

Oh shite! Looks like Mr MB shouldn't have entered the box junction as his exit was not clear.

TP insurer is coughing up. Assessor Monday then we'll see what the lie of the land is. No1 was enjoying his belt-free trips in the Citroen though
