I'm trying not to think like that, but I do have a few other cars to attend to as it is. Now if I could get juniors 1 & 2 to start welding then I might be able to get through the fleet maintenance/restoration list a bit quicker. I'll still happily work on them though and maybe drive them now and then, but ownership? So far, it's not quite struck home yet what has happened. All I know is I'm really not looking forward to the trip to see her in the morning.

Bumhats38 (That's not squared, or cubed, but to the power 38. That's a lot of zeros.)

Oh dear. I was hoping it wouldn't be such bad news.

@33grinder - Unfortunately it is such bad news mattsdafs - Not insured, either building or Dilly. Dilly was removed my policy at last renewal in July. Excuse me whilst I drown myself in this... That really sucks. Did landlord have insurance? Is there any recourse? Won't get the car back but might get you another. You can't go without a DAF in your life for too long.

@matt: I will of course save anything that is reusable, not that there's much.
@pete: Re: insurance. See my reply I gave Matt at the top of my post. Landlord no longer has insurance on building. I no longer have insurance on car (I did have it down @€2.5k).
The rear number plate survived because it is all metal. You may remember I got Gilbert Tipper to make these up with cast ally digits. They cost an arm and a leg though and weighed a ton. The carburettor has melted, although there might be something in that engine salvageable. The 5 new skinny 135 tyres are still in my shed at home. The original engine is partly there and partly in my shed in bits. The roof is distorted to fuck. The tailgate has a gap on the nearside at the top and none on the offside, looks like the heat has twisted the whole lot. There's a melted socket set case in the boot. I can't remember where the replacement front road spring is just now.
The Volvo dizzler is okay as it was outside elsewhere.
