Yeah, Kero. As mentioned it is 870 EUR / 1000L at the minute. Diesel is 907 EUR / 1000L. #2 would be like MGO here (marked gas oil). It's dyed green here and red in the North and mainland GB. Here's my tank: and boiler house.

Interesting set up Rich. Your tank looks rather small compared to mine. Mine is all steel and measures; 60 inches long, 27inches wide and 54 inches tall (with the 4 inch support legs). By local safety codes it must be 5 feet away from the Boiler. John

It could have happened on the way to the show Saturday, luckily it did not. On the way back from having my tyres balanced yesterday Sandra's shift linkage just did not feel right. The lever was very loose and by the time I got back to DAF Central she would not shift out of forward. Ahhh, the joys of driving classic. Further investigation revealed a very bent front Clevis on the linkage and no amount of movement would get Sandra out of gear (I had to go underneath and pull the shift tab on the Vario by hand) Time to pull the shifter and linkage. This is what I discovered... A 50 cent Spring Clip had managed to work itself loose on the shifter. DAMNATION...this caused me over 4 hours of work ?? This is where the bloody thing belongs. It will not come loose again, I applied silicone adhesive under the edges. After that it took another hour or so to remove the linkage and replace the Clevis at the shifter side. The nasty DAF locking pins were tossed in the bin and replaced with Stainless bolts, washers and locking nuts...I will never fight with those nasty clips again. This entire job was a nightmare and pity anyone who ever has to do this. Shifter bolted back on and linkage hooked up....time for a test drive. Success !! Sandra has not shifted that smoothly in years. [glow=red,2,300]Smoother than a Pantera. [/glow] Now to go and outclass a few French Cars at the Citroen Meet in Saratoga, New York. ;D ;D ;D ;D John

What a nightmare of a job John! Shame you had to rip her carpet for access. Martin had exactly the same problem with the carpet when he replaced Animal's handbrake. DAF just didn't give enough decent access to get spanners in, let alone see what you are doing between said carpet and the transmission tunnel.

No resting on my laurels after the busy Car Show weekend (attended two shows and covered over 270 road miles with 2 different DAFs)...Now it is time for some upkeep!! 1). Polar Bear is due for some new Tie-rod ends. ;D He was doing the "shaking shakies" on the 70 mile round trip yesterday (along with a rather annoying noise from, I beleive, the Flywheel bearing whenever the clutch was active. 2). Butterscotch will receive some new rear Brake Cylinders. 3). Sarge needs to have his rear brake cylinders rebuilt. I would like to take SARGE to a show on July 28th...we will see. 4). Thursday I will be on the road to check out a 1960 DAF 750 sedan for sale in central Connecticut. It's complete but rough. PHEW...a busy busy week at Central. Never a dull moment!!! John

Thanks Matt.
My maintanance list is growing daily... ;D ;D Yesterday I was able to replace the tie rod ends on Polar Bear, change and balance a few wheels as well as "de-bugging" the front end of Sandra (a million nasty critters met their demise on my Bonnet on Saturday ;D ;D)

The carpet was ripped yes, but the tear is still (luckily) covered by the center console Pete...so no problem here. Hey show judges - dock another 20 points off that car's score! Pics of any Citroen GS spots please.... Here you go Rich.... ;D ;D A pair of them. Excellent, although that one on the left looks like it needs that back door sorting. Also peculiar is the English registration number on an incorrect-for-year plate style and font (More French stylee). The odd thing is that car isn't registered as export and has just freshly been put on SORN. I wonder if it is on an extended holiday? Or something more dodgy? Being LHD, it's originally from over the Channel somewhere and came to the UK in 2007.
