Even more dodgy info on the Gold GS...An Afro-American gentleman and his family were driving it and it had a Maryland plate on the rear (not sure if it had a current sticker either ) John

How bizarre!
If it was permanently exported, then it would have an export marker on the DVLA, which it doesn't. If I were to go on a round the world tour, would I need a temporary registration when I hit the US? I would have thought a GB sticker would do fine, even if I was there a little while.
If I was there a little longer I would have thought it would then be necessary to export it and re-registered and do the same if I came back. I remember years ago a US Navy guy local to us had a '83 or '84 Chrysler LeBaron. He was stationed in Scotland for a while so I remember it being on UK plates.

On a normal export you have 30 days to acquire a US plate...Extended visits by foreign nationals have up to a six to nine month exemption and can drive with their own country's plates. The whole thing is rather odd Rich...LHD French car with a later UK plate driven by an American family on questionable US plates. John

Not a fit few days for man nor beast (not even madd dogs & Englishmen) Today was almost unbearable... 33 C with a blazing sunStarted mowing the lawn at 8:30am this morning and had to stop (before finishing) at 11:00am because of the heat. Tomorrow the weatherman predicts 36 C and I will be on the road checking out a 1960 DAF 600 for sale in Connecticut. John

Number 17 has been added to the DCA roster.... ;D Today I picked up this rather unique 1960 DAF 600 DeLuxe. All original and all complete. The Motor; Original serial number, free AND RUNNING (despite the VW dizzy cap ) The only major issues are the floorboards (which are hanging on for dear life) and the interior is a bit shabby. But considering the car (which had been in inside storage for almost 30 years) is now 52 years old it is quite presentable and may even be salvagable without too much bother. More on "KITTY" later...
