;D Postman Pat arrived in my letter box yesterday but (thankfully) no Jess. ;D @ Joe... Check out this posting on the DCA forum: dafclubamerica.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=variomatictech&action=display&thread=731&page=1Any tips would be appreciated. EFY the (other car company) 343 arrived at DAF Central on Saturday with a tow dolly for some surgery and TLC. . Poor Bob just could not get the new propshaft installed so EFY could run again (she had been sitting silent for over a year). THIS PHOTO IS JUST BEGGING FOR A CAPTION ;D Having her on my lift made all the difference in the world...it only took 1/2 hour to install the prop and then begin working on her exhaust system (which came along in pieces). With the prop and 3/4 of the exhaust in place she was started...it ran, but.... OMG, I've heard steam engines running better. A quick mini tune-up, fuel filter and oil change he was off again. Much better now. She was then scrubbed from top to bottom, inside & out...because I will not have a dirty car sitting outside the Museum. EFY will remain at Central for a while until some of the problems have been straightened out...but at least she is drivable again. John PS.... I DID put Bob to work (in case you were wondering) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I must say, I'm starting to get a little itchy for one of those Ovlovs. Used to have a manual and liked that well enough so a vario could be interesting. Pity we have no space / time or money for one at the moment

yeah, the last one I had was just "an old car" that Dad passed on to me. I was aware of the Variomatic connection because of the transaxle they designed to replace it but beyond that knew nothing about them at the time. Otherwise I might have put it through that MOT and kept rather than passing it on

Joe, It would be so damn easy to convert a manual over to a Vario on these 343 models. Take a quick peer inside the rear wheel arch: What do you see ?? John

Hmm, 66 style drive shafts and suspension system, or judging by those arches some hidden rust?

Yeah, Ovlov designed that transmission specifically to bolt straight in where the vario was meant to sit - always thought that was a neat bit of packaging, but made for a slightly odd gear-change linkage on the manuals ;D
