John, might there be room in your suitcase for a few DCA stickers for a little blue 33, 66 and a LHD 33 perhaps?
Cheers

This prior weekend saw some Volvo action as well as Kalmar action at DAF Central... Bob C. came over to do some brake work on EFY. All was well in that department, he only had to change spring locks on one rear side and clean up the drums. EFY was soon back on the road for a few more test drives. Now to wait the arrival of a few body bits to make her look pretty again. I'll be using EFy as a daily this week to clean up her brakes and test all the systems myself. Postal Pete.... I made a feeble attempt to remove the gas tank for cleaning/flushing. This was NOT going to happen. There is just not enough room without removing the entire body or dropping the Vario. Instead I will have to clean it in place. After removing the drain plug a few gallons of really NASTY smelling brown liquid poured out. After that a few good flushes with the garden hose to remove any loose stuff. I later poured in 2 gallons of paint thinner and this will sit for a week or so to disolve any varnish. The engine compartment is coming along nicely...it should be ready for the motor very shortly. All of the front brake lines have been routed and secured, most of the wiring has been located to it's proper location and clad with new wire loom covers, Battery Box has been repaired and/or modified and the heat box secured. A few more small things and it's ready for paint. John

After getting EFY somewhat squared away with brakes and her new exhaust I drove her to work a few days last week...first day was great (although she does buck & hesitate more than I would like). Day two trip was a total disaster. Bloody Hell!! EFY's electrical failure left me stranded in the middle of a busy intersection at lunchtime and she would not restart, she had to be brought home on a recovery. Yesterday, after changing her Condensor, she started up and ran for a quick 6 mile test drive. But would not restart after I was home. Next to change the points and try again. Have I ever told you how much I enjoy Electrical issues ?? ?? NOT !Work on Postal Pete continued this prior weekend with some final fiberglass repairs to her Left inner wing and finishing up the brake line connection on this side as well. His outer wing was then secured in the same manner as the Right side. Next more work on the Engine compartment... The entire harnass was lifted and prepped for pre-paint. Since "Pete" will be running on 12 volt the old Bosch voltage regulator was removed completely and will be replaced with a built-in unit through an Alternator. Every new lighting bit I have purchased is 12 volt (as is the 850cc motor going in) so it will be a fairly easy conversion. John John

After having returned from the badlands for just about two weeks I realized I must return to the grind (sorry Pete ) After a devestating and frustrating weekend putting Sandra's Dizzy back together, after the advance mechanism crapped out, which left me with a "no-runner". The dizzy had swallowed two c clips and a bushing. A complete rebuild, taking just a few precious hours, has Sandra running like her old self again. ;D ;D Check out your Ducelier Dizzy if you have one...they are notorious for throwing c clips and eating bushings which can cause complete motor destruction, if not caught in time. On a brighter note....work on Postal Pete has resumed once more. Engine compartment was next on the to do list. After removing all the items from the inner wings this happened; The motor compartment is getting paint !! ;D ;D ;D ;D Today, that job was finished after applying three coats of paint and a coat of Clear-cote. ...and everything was put back. Now...where did I put that motor ?? ;D ;D ;D ;D John

Great to see some more progress with Postal Pete, John. Her engine bay is looking very tidy indeed. I am presuming that the well to the right is her battery tray but I wouldn't want to test that bar to stop a battery from bouncing apart... Does it have any additional clamps or did the designers deem that gravity would be a sufficient restraint?

Not quite sure about the Battery Bar either Pete Me thinks this a Canadian Post modification. I am playing with the idea of putting in a nice Black plastic Battery Box bolted to the body to hold things in place, much safer idea in my book. John

Pp looking very good John and a battery box a good idea...you don`t want a battery moving about As you already know,Yo and friends will all be having their dizzy`s looked at,with a couple being re-built also ...just in-case ;D
